How do Last Wills and Testaments work in Switzerland?

With the arrival of a new baby comes all the concerns about care for said child - particularly should either or both parents encounter an untimely expat death.

May I please ask if anyone has experience with the following:

- making a last will and testament - specifically as it pertains to authority over care for a minor child; I understand that transfer of assets is pretty much automatic

- mortgage insurance in case of death or severe disability (inability to work) of one or both parents

- continuation of residency rights (if possible) of surviving child and/or non-EU spouse should EU spouse pass away - we are presently on C permits by virtue of my husband's EU passport and our length of stay here

Many thanks for your advice and best regards,

(For the word Testament in a few subforums)

Otherwise, I'd suggest you contact a solicitor given your fairly in-depth questions: you do you pay for on free pubic forums...

I agree wholeheartedly with gbn. Even if you get answers on here, they may not apply to your specific situation. A couple of words misunderstood could make a lot of difference if the worst happens. I can only say, get professional advice.
