6 months pregnant, moving to Lugano. Info on health insurance, hospitals etc...

Hello,
Well, it is finally official! We are moving from Milan to a wonderful apartment in Porza, Lugano with the 6 month along belly.
Help! I need info!
As my due date approaches I have no idea about what are the best health insurance plans, hospitals, english speaking OBGYN/midwife, prenatal courses etc.
If anyone has any advice for me I'd love to hear from you.
Thanks
:-)

Hi and welcome

Good luck with your move and congrats on the pregnancy

As you are already pregnant you wont be eligible for semi private or private hospital cover insurance so you'll just get the basic health insurance which covers you for pregnancy and all that surounds pregnancy and is very good

So with basic coverage you'll go to your local hospital - not sure about English courses, I have just booked an english anti natal course but thats via a private hospital but you might find some independent anti natal courses, might be worth signing up for the new stork times

http://www.thenewstorktimes.com/

But I think this might be more focussed to the german speaking part.

Regards midwives etc... it's different from the UK (probably more like the US, not sure where you are from?) but you need to get in touch with a gyne and you'll see your gyne throughout the remainder of your pregnancy, so I think you can either go for an independent gyne or contact your local hospital when you arrive and register with the maternity/gyne department there.

Hopefully some more people might be able to help and advise you with better knowledge than mine as I am not in the basic insurance system
