My daughter (2 yrs at the time):

After me and my husband struggled for 30 mins to convince our daughter to put her shoes on, we finally succed and we get out. Once outside the building she sees a pigeon and she says: Mummy look, pigeons don't have shoes, why should I? Can I take mine off?

Let her know that she can leave her shoes behind when she learns to fly ... taking off from the ground, in case she tries launching from height!!

Re: Cute things kids say

I have another one.

Last month she took part to a research study from the local university on bilingual children. The researcher showed her different patterns composed of black and white squares and she had to reproduce them. At the beginning it was very simple and she did it right but as soon as it got more complicated she could not (she is three yrs) and she started to make her own figures. She simply turned to the researcher and told her:
I know that you are going to tell me this is wrong, but I tell you IT IS RIGHT THIS WAY

My daughter and I were attending a service in the Anglican Church in Geneva. The Chaplain started to pray in English, and Alicia, then about 5 years old, and more comfortable with the French language said "q'u ce qui'l fait", I replied the Chaplain was praying, "mais, Dieu, Il ne comprend pas le français" came her immediate retort!

My two year old obviously loves her bed as much as mummy. Whilst getting her up for daycare this morning she turned to me and said "mummy, mornings are silly" and threw herself back on her pillow

"I love granny the most."
"Really?"
"Yeah."
"Because she has the same name."

Now, a friend with the same name just had her baby girl born, also with the same name. I wonder what will that do to my child's hierarchy of love, once we visit them with welcome baby gift ..

nice one MC.

My 3 yr old daughter came in from the garden the other day via the cellar and picked up a large shopping bag, she then did the cute angle-the-face-up-and-under-into-parent's-face thing and told me she had to go get Christmas

Re: Cute things kids say

My two love jumping and playing around on my bed in the evenings after they've had a bath. So this evening, I let them have some laughs for a few minutes and then said to my 1 year old that it's time to go to sleep.

My 3 year old looked at me, raised her eyebrows and with the most serious expression I have ever seen, told me "No mommy LEAVE! [her brother'name] is still playing!"

I could not believe it! I mean I know that's the same expssion I give them when I reprimand them but I was totally taken aback. My husband was also there to witness this event. So funny

My daughter has decided that I obviously do not look my best first thing in the morning. Every day when I go in to wake her she looks at me and says "scary monster!". When I ask her where is the scary monster she answers "you are scary monster mummy".

Re: Cute things kids say

Preschools are very good at repeating words and especially the bad ones.

I use Shut up sometimes when arguing (for fun) with hubby. I was grounding her the other day for her bad behavior and she screamed to me:

-Shush maman, shut up!

I deserved it.

Last Christmas she came up with Ostie (which is a swearing word in Quebecois) because of my parents's neighbour who says it in every 5th words or so...

LOL

Now I have to be very careful!

Last winter whilst walking the dog, my little daughter noticed one of the many large Crucifixes in the countryside. It had been snowing, and she was intrigued by the image of it, and quite wisely said, "Mummy, who is that man, why is he hanging around up there with no clothes on, he'll get cold"

Hahah, that reminded me the little Jesus we have as a cult back in Prague, the Infant Jesus of Prague. They sell them in vicinity of the church, since we get a lot of Spanish speaking visitors, knowing about this, going to the prayers and buying the little Infant Jesus, with different outfits. When my child saw him, she also wanted to have the "Barbie Jesus with all his shiny clothes".
