Conversation with the 6-year old:

"....So son, I get money by going to work...do you know what Daddy does at work?"

"Nothing. You just look at the computer all day."

"Brush your teeth, babes, or yer teeth will fall out and you will get plastic ones"

"Wow, cool. Can I?"

4 year old:

...if only son, if only...

Me: I don't have enough money to buy you all those toys you know?
Son: Go to the bank, they'll give you more!

Ahhh, if only!

... Which reminds me: we were approaching a Kiosk and my four-year-old son asked if he could have an ice cream. I said yes, so he chose one (fortunately he usually goes for the CHF 1.- Rakete). We took it up to the attendant and then I asked him, "How are you going to pay for this? Do you have money?"

"No," he replied, then with total confidence: "But you do!"

Only 14 years of this to go ...

I've started giving my (nearly) 4 year old pocket money (CHF2 or £1 depending where she is). On Tuesday we went out unexpectedly so I went to the kiosk to by a childrens mag with free toy to keep her occupied. She wanted two. I said I could only afford one and she said she would buy it with her pocket money. Hmmm, she had already spent CHF1 on bubbles and didn't have it with her. Guess how many she got.

My 2 year old looked under daddy's armpit and shouted happily: kaki kaki... no, that's hair: haar haar *jumping up and down*... and today to me too: kaki kaki and then me: no... that's hair.. haar haar *tickle tickle tickle*

"So, how was your camp? Do you want to go next summer, too?"

"Yeah, I liked it so much!"

"What did you like the most?"

"Coming home.."

They are so honest. Even being split about something is so normal. Bless.

Finding an eyelash on my daughters cheek, i ask her to blow it away and make a wish....

Mini mimi: i wish....
Me: yes
Mini mimi: i wish....

Mini mimi: i wish that mummy would disappear

-No honey, I don't have money to buy you another toy..

She went to bed at 21:00 (finally) which is quite late for her as she has to go to Krippe next morning. I laid next to her to tell her the goodnight story..

Then we hear some people laughing and chatting outside pretty loud. Seems like they are having fun..

My 5 yr old said:
- Aha, super! People are partying outside, and look at me. I have to lay here and sleep!
- ??

-mami, which animal is this meat coming from?
-cow
-and what about milk?
-it also comes from cow
-and what about apple, which animal does it come from?
-it comes from an apple tree
- and which animal does the apple tree come from?
-

-mami, I don't want to grow up
-really? Why is that?
-because I don't want to be a mother
-okey, but why is that?
-because mothers are doing everything and getting tired..

Yes, you say it honey!

(Referring to a box of expensive and lovely pralines I got as a "thank you" from a colleague)

"Mummy, if you get your box of chocolates out of the fridge, I promise I'll only eat my share."

We turned on the Olympics today and the newscaster was interviewing a British Dressage rider. 5 year old says "Why is she wearing that hat? Is she going to do a magic trick?"

My kid says:
Daddy: Laptop
Mummy:Ipad
he is : Iphone

Olympics are on!

Women's Beach Volleyball.
Mrs OM changes the TV channel
I object:
"Hey, don't do that, it's my favourite Olympic Sport!"

9-year old is on the ball:
"I know why you like it. Because you like their clothes!"

He's right.

Water Polo comes on.
6-year old:
"Oh look, it's rugby with swimming!"

And on that note, this is my last ever post on EF.

We're leaving CH to start a new life in the Middle East - and it's nice to end by writing something on my favourite EF thread.
