Son is learning German at school this year. He was proudly counting out loud to me :

Eins
Zwei
Drei
Viier
Fünf
Sex...

You might want to brush up your pronunciation honey!
She also needs it :

Re: Cute things kids say

Today was the first day back at school after the Christmas/New Year holidays. I asked my son, now aged 7:

"What are you most looking forward to when you go back to school?"

"Homework!!"

""

"I haven't put any homework in for two weeks, and I'm really looking forward to doing it!"

And there wasn't a trace of irony!

I'm trying to train my 2.5 year old to go on the potty. I sat him on there and we waited patiently... After trying to go for 5 minutes, he holds his family jewels and says in an exasperated wine, "Mummy, it's not working!"

Re: Cute things kids say

I was in the car with my 3 1/2 years old son on our way back home today listening music. He asked me what was the song.

- Fat Bottomed Girls
- what's that?
- it's about a man who likes big butts.

Laughs!

- mom, I have a biiiiiig butt.
- you? It fits in one of my hand, it's teeny tiny!
- nooooooooo, my butt is biiiiiiiig. I have a big butt.

"Daddy, the selling line is ringing. Shall I tell them you don't speak German?"
My eight year old daughter when the land line rings. Everyone we know uses our mobile numbers, so the only calls we get on the land line are sales pitches. Our standard recourse is to pretend to be Swedish.

Re: Cute things kids say

On a recent playground run a small boy kept coming and kicking and hitting my 4 year old. My son surprising maintained restraint and didn't even run to me to tackle the issue. On the way back home I told him that I was very proud of him for doing so well. Cheeky pipes up I had to mama, I am a grown up boy, I am 4 years old and he was only 3 years old. Grown ups have to be careful with kids.

Ahh the days when a year difference is so important now if I could convince my husband of the same

Some pearls from my little one:

At the dining table:
Can I have another garbage* bread please?
*garlic, to you and me

In the train:
Mama, mama, someone took our Mobility car! Oh no, they stole papa's Mobility car!

I told my son that for our upcoming holidays, we'll be going to Turkey.

"Well, that sounds delicious!" was his immediate response.

I think he still has Christmas on the brain.

Re: Cute things kids say

Yesterday at my son's daycare, the teacher was holding a big something that looked like a turgescent you-know-what at one end, and a leek at the other. I exclaimed at the atrocity of the thing.

Turned out it was the masterpiece candle my son had produced during the afternoon...

Friend of mine showed her boys, aged 6 and 4, an ultrasound picture of the baby she is expecting and asked them what they thought it was. 4-year-old takes a look and says "mud".

When I took my son to my OB to see his little sister on the ultrasound scan, he complained to the OB that she was moving too much to see well and the pic was bad quality as it was black and white
