At dinner time.
"what are you eating Mommy?"
"A salad"
"A salad?! But salad is for snails!" and before you ask, yes, we kept pet snails for a few weeks to 'study' them before letting them go free again...

Four years old son is learning good manners and tend to forget the please and thank you. So when he asked for a glass of water in a full polite sentence I was impressed.
Me : aww, this is nice and cute. Yes I'll bring you one.

Kid's Oma, pointing at a hospital - when I was a child, I stayed at this hospital to get my tonsils out.
My kid - Mama, did I also get them out?
Me - no, you did not.
Him - Oma, I am so lucky I did not need any perfection* when I was a baby
* - operation

Visiting same family as I wrote about once before, little miss very soon to five, lets call her Clara, greeted me at the door and began a most entertaining near monologue.
" Do you know what a pisspot is? it's a "sheisshafe" (Swiss German for potty) spelling is dubious.
I told her "yes, in fact, I do know what a pisspot is, but you know, it's not really a very nice thing to say and maybe you don't want to say it to people very much"
Clara "Yes it is and yes I do"
Pisspot, PISSPOT! PISSpot, pissPot, pisspot, pisspot, pisspot, PISSSSPOTT!! pisspot,pisspot pisspot,....
I had to conclude, it's actually not a bad word after all, quite expressive, to the point and rolls of the tongue rather nicely.
Her Mum is not too sure if going to Kindergarten after the holidays is going to be a good or bad thing, we shall see.

My 3 year old is creating his own verbs.
- chalking - writing/ colouring with big chalks), as in "I have finished chalking";
- bubbling - blow bubbles, as in "Can I do some bubbling?"
Here's hoping that one of his creations will make it in the Oxford dictionary | The following 3 users would like to thank Clumsy Maman for this useful post:

I was thinking about this yesterday after my 2 1/2 year old son reacted to a flag.
Last June when he was just 1 1/2, we went across the border into France to visit a store for flooring of our new home the day after Les Bleus pummeled the Suisse at the World Cup...While my wife & I were discussing with the salesman different options & prices, our niece was watching our son who was marching up & down the aisles yelling 'Hopp Suisse, Hopp Suisse'
We had been watching the match with others in our village and clearly the expression stuck - just poor timing & location to continue the mantra the following day...Needless to say, we were a bit embarrassed | This user would like to thank FCBarca for this useful post:

Mini Worwoo's comment just reminded of the most outrageous comment our little man could ever make in a church. He was 2.5 at the time, and we were attending the funeral service of a good friend's father. While pointing to Jesus, he exclaimed, rather loudly "look Mama, this man is naked and I can see his nipples!"
I guess that's what you get when raising your kids as atheists | The following 2 users would like to thank Clumsy Maman for this useful post:
