Can you fold the clothes neatly, sweetheart...

Why fold underwear when it goes on our butt!
A very good question - although my grandmother used to iron my grandfather's underwear before folding it neatly to put away.

Different times ...

So much love!

You do know that ironing sterilizes the textile fibers, right? She was a smart lady, actually it is the reason cloth diapers used to be ironed too, handkerchiefs, etc. Straightened fibers also seem to last longer while fabric softener actually apparently not only trigger contact allergies but also break the fibers.

We do like to iron in our home, so zen. Alas, not underwear. It is miniscule, anyways.

Can we ask grandma to make 16 types of xmas cookies like when you were small?

Well, that's not gonna be so easy. So much sugar, on top. Ugh.

If I try to believe in Santa again - will I get more gifts?

Re: Cute things kids say

Mine is now studying towards his Master's degree far away, and I have heart moments of nostalgia.
This thread brought back beautiful memories.

Thank you for its existence.

He's home for Christmas and I came home from work on Thursday to absolute chaos and mess. There was music and dirty dishes all over the place. The fridge was empty and the floor was strewn with clothes, and I was welcomed with a "Hi Mom" with a big grin.

"Oh Sweetheart, the place is a mess !!!!! Oh this is wonderful !!"
I exclaimed reaching up for a hug from my teddy bear of a son.

Silly things old mamas say

I still do that for everyone in this household and I’m not that old.

Freshly ironed laundry is lovely.

It is a good barometer. Gotta tone down the fun I'm having and "get serious".

I only got a 5.0 in my masters degree verbal exams on Block Chain use cases: they only questioned me on governance and architecture, although I'm a business informatics student.

Moms and Dads, get used to it

Chicken pox became a chicken pock in our home, for some reason.

Probably for the reason that your child knows that "pox" originates from the word "pock". It's the plural of "pock", morphing over time from "pocks" to "pox". We still refer to the pits on the skin that the disease can cause as "pock marks".

In our house "chicken nuggets" were known as "chicken yoghurts", which confused the hell out of the lady at the local badi when my son was small, and the name kind of stuck.

Chicken pox came and went but is probably best forgotten...
