I figured that as I have never had Salmonella before pregnant-there is no reason to be overly concerned while pregnant. In fact the last time I had a (non alcohol induced) stomach complaint was when I was 7 years old when I threw up in assembly. I've never had a vomiting or diarrhea incident since then. Didn't bother getting the swine flu jab as i've never had the flu and didn't worry about meat or fish
It is normal for me to only have a couple of glasses of wine a week so I carried on with that. I'm sure I ate unpasteurised cheese by mistake but I didn't panic as french womem eat this when they are pg and you don't hear of them making a fuss.
I eat takeaway sushi in buckets but i'm pretty sure the stuff you buy in Tesco isnt the real deal anyway.
The only thing I couldn't stomach was people spraying deodorants and airfresheners around me. Not sure why, just felt wrong.
I think it's just best to chill out and not worry

with my son i ate a ton of watermelon, fish (hubby was a fisherman, impossible to avoid) and lot's of hot hot stuff like chillli's and the like. to this day my son's favorite foods consist of all of them.i also ate a ton of spinach, kale, lettuce- i would eat it raw and constantly- and i started eating and craving meat a ton when i was pregnant- still crave it now.
i didn't avoid much, coca cola- because my mom was insistent on it causing miscarriages- she had no science to back it up but i didn't want it anyway. i was much more sensitve to smells than tastes- cooking was hard the first few months- but eating was fine. i never really liked dairy products- i was even more turned off by them when preggers.
in the end i tend to think whatever your body craves is probably what you need. mama's tend to have instinctual urges during pregnancy- so unless they are bizarre (like pica cases) it's most likely from a need...

With my first, I was craving all sweet and bad stuff. I ate chocolats, candies, cola, chips... I took 20 kilos...
This time I am not craving those things but I eat much more fruits, veggies and nuts. Nothing makes me more happy then an apple in the evening when I am craving something sweet. We have plenty of cookies and stuff in the kitchen (that I bought on the moment) but I don't want to eat them.
I am so not going to take this amount of weight again. It was a nightmare to lose it! |

So I didn't have this lets try to fix it before the pregnancy thing. | | | | | Same for me there. my doc explained to me my body naturally doesn't produce enough serotonin, and taking a mild dose of it simply ensures a better quality of life.
My OB also told me that I'm at increased risk of post-partum depression, which is more damaging to the baby than a very mild dose of serotonin during pregnancy.

Plus, if your 1st one goes to creche the first few months, you have all those months to truck your baby around the neighborhod to give him/her good naps and push the gorceries around in the buggy.. I wouldn't stress...

Walks can be done with one bub in the pram and one tot walking, running around..Do you have a park you could take both to, without worrying about roads and cars? I had to really train our child to stay by our side, she had a phase of duracell bunny running around but it passed, now she holds onto us. There are a few groups of moms for walking with kids and prams, specifically to get out and move around, I wonder if that exists in your area, too? This place has so many stay at home moms, more than other countries, it seems, I would search for local moms, ped might be able to tell you, or post a Migros add/Ikea add/Coop add if there are message boards..Our ped also has a message board, playgroups have message board, etc. I am sure churches organize meetups of moms and babies, too, most moms of babies I know were so eager to get out of the house..Have you searched for moms to be meet up group in your area?

Let's see
Cheers,

Cheers,
K | | | | | Lets see with this pregnancy! I retain water like crazy during this period so I know that makes you much heavier. It took me ages to lose it after because of breastfeeding (for me, that wasn't any help in losing weight, I began to lose after we stopped).
But I also eat much better this time and I don't let myself eat everytime I feel hungry.
We'll see |

We did pretty much waited till almost 4 for our but to be fulltime creche, until then it was mixed up, at 4 she was ready to mix all the languages, she seems to thrive...we will probably have to sell all our kidneys soon, true. But now when you have some time to get ready, Nil, maybe contacting other moms and sharing babysitting can be done in your area, we are finally lucky to find enough interested people for sitting swaps..costs nutin.
One more thing I avoided like plague, were sun tanners. Too loaded with artificial caroten, which soaked up by large skin area isn't too nice for the bub. It's beautiful and sunny today, hope all the pregos are chilling in the sun, soaking up some good vibes..

K | | | | | With the first I gained over 20kgs . With number 2 only 8kgs
(Even my Doctor was surprised and asked how I am doing this?) I must say I just followed my cravings and only ate things that I really wanted, no toddler leftovers!!

The no raw meat rule seems to make sense because toxoplasmosis is a very serious illness and dangerous for the unborn. During my pregnancy last year, MG's son-in-law tried to keep me away from what he thought "unhealthy food" like fat fish, more than one cup of coffee a day, and other stuff - but hey, it was my third time...
Basically your body tells you what to eat - listen to your cravings and temporary dislikes. I put on 20 kilos during my first pregnancies and lost them within a few feeks after giving birth and went back to normal both times.
(Did I mention I had monster babies ...)
