| | Translation requested: Received a late letter about my Pension Fund
Hey guys didn't know where to post this
--
I got a letter today from a company that I think "represented" my last company here who I worked for, for 8 months and took care of the insurances for their employees
--
Anyways
I got a letter and the title says something like this -
IHRE BERUFLICHE VORSORGE-POLICE NR. xxx - GOLDBACH INTERACTIVE AG
IHRE VERSICHERTEN NR . xxxx
--
I don't know any german and don't know what it means. There is more but that is the title
What does it say?
--
For your info - from this year I am with a new health insurance package.

No GOLDBACH is the company I USED TO WORK for
--
I wrote that an assurance company wrote me this letter, that is the title
I don't know what they want or what they are asking for - for some reason I think they are asking me for the new company I work for
But I don't understand why - I have nothing to do with Phenix Assurances
???

Type out the entire text in a post here ( being careful to leave out private information ) and someone will translate it for you, and then you can decide what to do.

Why shouldn't the title of the letter which I wrote be good enough to understand what it's about?

Maybe the company that does your retirement (2nd pilastro)?
When you change companies, normally the funds need to get transfered to the new insurer.

All it says is what you policy number and insured number are.

1. Google Translate
2. The text says that your employer has informed that you are leaving your current job as per xx.yy.zzzz. You need to inform them of your new company & the New Pension Fund details (through the enclosed form) so that the pension fund can be transferred over to the new owner.

I left my job ages ago - on the 31.05.2010
Why are they doing this now?
-
What if I don't tell them my new company and ignore this letter?

I didn't do it - I thought the health insurance would do something like that but guess they didn't.
Can I find out how much I have in this pension fund? I'd have to ask the assurance company that sent me this letter
If it's a real low amount, I can't be bothered to tell them my new company etc etc

Why would your health insurance have anything to do with your Pension Fund ? Or did I miss something here ? | Quote: | | | | | Can I find out how much I have in this pension fund? I think if you ignore it then they'll move the money to a blocked bank account. You'll be able to transfer it from there into another pension fund at a later date (or ignore it).
E.T.A. - The fact that it's only 8 month's worth might mean you can take it as cash. I seem to remember, on the form that I recently filled out to transfer my pension, something to the effect that small amounts can be withdrawn. So contact the company on the off chance. You might get some beer tokens.

hollisterb, you're coming across quite strong.. relax, it's probably just your pension fund letter
It has nothing to do with health insurance.
Every month a % of your salary is deducted and allocated to a pension fund by your employer. The employer also contributes a %. There is a legal minimum for both parties, nevertheless some companies actually offer more.
Anyway.... when you leave the company that money follows you and is legally transferred from your former employer to your new employer. If you don't give them the information to make the transfer they contact you. Simples.
The money is blocked until you retire, or decide to be self-employed, buy property or leave the country to an non-European country. If you move to a European country the money the pension fund is transferred to your pension fund in that country.

Everything written so far is correct. BVG is your occupational pension scheme. http://www.bsv.admin.ch/02476/index.html?lang=en
Not much info in English: http://www.zurich.ch/site/en.html search the Forum!
The money belongs to you. Probably half has been paid by your employer up to 31.05.2010, and half was paid by you. Look at your old pay slips, every month you had a deduction for BVG and this was for your pension fund, and this is the company where your money has been placed. A similar amount was also paid in by your employer.
Now that you have another job the old BVG company needs to know where to send the funds you accumulated. This is all covered by BVG laws and you cannot change anything. Just send them the information. Maybe after a year or so you will find out more about BVG and understand the importance of this letter. Keep a copy of the letter, and the reply you send them.
Maybe you can take the letter to work on Monday and any Swiss colleague can help you fill in the form. Take a small box of chocolate as a thank you!
It really is a normal every day procedure which you should have completed in June.
Usually every January you receive a statement from your current pension fund telling you how much you have accumulated, and a projection of how much you get if you live to 65 years of age and how much your relative gets if you die.
.

If you hold it long enough there without claiming it (more than about 5 years), it could be a real pain to get it back.
Typically when you leave an employer you would get these forms soon after. The amount is likely non trivial, although it depends how long you were working for the old employer for and your age. If you were there for a year, are 40 years old and made more than 80000, the minimum would be probably around 5k, possibly more if your plan was above the minimum level. Getting the details of your current pension fund and sending those to the old pension fund should take you less than 2 hours, so it seems like a good deal.
