The best Debit/Credit Card for paying bills in EUR and GBP?

Dear English speaking felllows

I am from the UK, and I am currently travelling a lot in the US, and in the EURO-zone due to my job (but also my own leisure for the week end). This basically means that nearly every week end, I travel back to London or Paris.

Problem is, my Bank in London is Barclays and they make you pay hefty fees for every transaction (like horrible exchange rates + 4% commission + 4 GBP).

I currently have the Coop Supercard (Credit Card), the SBB CFF Credit Card.... as per http://mct.sbb.ch/mct/en/vergleich-saldo.pdf
the SBB card is the most advantageous...

Do you guys know of any card with the lowest commissions? Is SBB really so good?

Please let me know

Thanks!

If you have an American Express card issued from Amex directly in the UK, and you can manage to obtain an address and phone number in any EUR country, then you can call Amex and ask for "global transfer" of your UK card to a EUR currency country (where the address/phone number is from).

hello!

The Coop supercard is quite good, i use it as well and the issuing card company of Coop Supercard is Credit Suisse so im sure you have a good service with this sort of card. I dont know about the SBB Card its difficult to say. But i would recommend you to check the page: www.bonus.ch it depends on how many purchase transactions you have with your credit card per year and how many withdrawals per year you make with your credit card. Based on that you can make a comparison which credit card might suit you. i work for UBS and I dont want to say UBS is the best etc. but for business travelers and people with a high amount of transactions per year UBS credit cards might be very good. (p.p. UBS Visa/MC Classic or UBS Gold Visa or MC, Amex as well).

you can check this page: (sorry unfortunately the page is only in german, italina or french available.....)
www.bonus.ch/.../Kreditkarte/Kreditkarten-Vergleich.aspx

if you need more info no prob you can contact me.

natasha

You can get FREE Amex credit cards in USD or EUR (therefore avoiding FX and fees). Details here: http://www.americanexpress.com/lacid...een_card.shtml
