| | Tax Forms
Hello
I am having a B Permit and the tax is deducted at source from my Salary every month. My Gross Salary is above 120k. So i was expecting the tax forms from my gemeindie. As i did not receive the forms till this week, i contacted them and they said it is not required for me to do the Tax filing as i am on a B Permit.
I wanted to do tax refund claim and so i was asked to fill the quellensteur correction form and send. Any idea on whether the rules have changed now in Kanton Zurich as i knew that if the gross salary is above 120k you need to do the Tax filing.

But... if the Gemeinde taxation level is below the cantonal average don't fill in the form. If the Gemeinde tax is above the average cantonal taxation then fill in the form and claim a refund.

It is compulsory, including for canton Zürich. Whoever you spoke with was misinformed; B permit holders above 120k are still required to file, as are C permit holders and Swiss citizens.
I recommend calling them again and speaking to someone else; alternatively, just use the Private Tax application that you can download from their website, print it out and send it in. You don't want them to think that you're avoiding your tax obligations, and "some guy on the phone told me I didn't need to" is not likely to go over well as an excuse.

We were told that sometimes the first time you go over the threshold it takes a while for the authorities to catch up - and if you lodge in the second or third year they might then want you to lodge previous years as well - so hang on to your paperwork.
To be honest, I sent ours this year to an agent. I'd rather pay the money and feel secure that I'm not going to get an accumulated tax bill after 3 or 5 years.
I wonder what percentage of L and B permit holders leave after 2-5 years, and how many stay and eventually join the crowds who pay tax once a year... | This user would like to thank swisspea for this useful post: | |

It is Bundesteuer provisional, followed by Geminde provisional then the extra after you submit your tax declaration (say for example and un-taxed bonus or extra income) |

I had actually written an e-mail to the person in the gemeindie Steuramt and got this reply.
I gave my AHV number. But i never told that my Gross Pay was more than 120K. I thought she would check against my AHV Number. So is it better to ask them again to send the forms or download it, fill and send them.

Whether you contact them again to get the forms or simply use the software doesn't matter; they're both equivalent.

| | Tax Forms due to be returned soon!!
To all of you who live here and the rich people: don't forget you have to complete your tax forms soon and:
for canton Berne they have to be completed and returned to the Gemeinde tomorrow night. For Solothurn, Zurich and many other cantons before the first of April.
You can apply in writing, or over the tax website, for an extension free of charge until September.
