I believe I owe some money to a Swiss bank (UBS), nothing much but it's been three years I left the country and wondering if it would be a problem now as I consider a job offer in Switzerland.

The problem occurred because I transferred the same amount of money twice considering the transaction didn't happen. Next day I left the country for good, and realized when I checked my bank account in US that they transferred the same amount twice.

I know my bank account number and still keep the password calculator, but can not remember my "Contract number" to access my account and pay whatever I owe to them.

I recommend getting a new passport first; the Swiss banking police might shoot you at the border if they recognize you. If you make it across, though, and stay away from Paradeplatz, you'll probably be ok. Just be careful of the random DNA checks on the tram - those might catch you out too.

Just call them up and ask.

UBS phone numbers find the one closest to where you lived. Did they not have an address for you in the U.S.? I was here for school in the late 90's and had an account there; seems I left a balance of 14 CHF or something and about two years later they contacted me in the U.S to see if I wanted to close the account. If they do that for 14 francs I imagine they would do a bit more for a significant sum in their favor!

I would contact the bank and discuss how to go about repaying the monies to them.

I am a little confused, however. They transferred the monies twice but failed to chase you for the erroneous second payment? Could it be that you actually had enough monies in your bank to cover the transaction twice? If so, then you don't owe them a thing.

As suggested already, best call them to sort everything out.
