CH Tax Return - How much harder will it be now I'm married?

Hi All,

Last year I got married to my French girlfriend

I have to fill out a CH tax return, she doesn't. Last year I translated the from and filled it in myself, without too much difficulty, after getting an accountant to do it for me the previous year.

This year it'll be different because all her salary has to go on it as well. Is this going to be super-difficult for me to sort out? Should I be able to do this myself or am I looking at getting an accountant to help out?

Anyone have experiences like this?

Cheers,
Phil

There are lots of people who can do it for you quite cheaply in the Zurich area, I would recommend getting it done properly the first time. Mine was done wrong and now I'm trying to claim back thousands that I overpaid, and that was with an accountant doing it who well and truly screwed it up.

I'm sure somebody can recommend somebody. It is worth paying for.

To the OP: it shouldn't be that much more complicated. Just add her salary in the relevant section, along with all the associated deductions. Also bear in mind you get a married person's tax deduction (well, we do in FR anyway). Might be worth sitting with an accounatnt for an hour, just to go over it properly.

To nigelr: how are you going about reclaiming? I'm sure we paid too much last year, but not sure how to go about sorting it out.

Thanks for your replies, guys!

From what I've seen, for this year, I don't need to do anything differently.

Next year, however...
