'Johnny foreigner' bank charges!!

Just had a letter from UBS to announce new charge of CHF 30/month for account holders living outside Switzerland. Checked with Credit Suisse--they charge CHF40/month!!---and I have only just transferred to UBS because GKB withdrew online-banking for UK residents! Grrr (only reason offered was cost of 'licence'!?)
I have very few transactions--utilities, etc for a holiday home and do them by standing order or online so would appreciate if anybody has any cheaper suggestions.

Re: 'Johnny foreigner' bank charges!!

If the Bill is CHF 20/Month, how about just transfering 120 and pay for 6 months at once from your UK Account ? Then you dont need an account here, and it is just 1 bank charge instead of 6.

Doc.

Re: 'Johnny foreigner' bank charges!!

How weird because I have been today been researching this topic!!

I visited the Poste and the BCV (Vaud Bank)
and they do not charge for for UK residents who own property here.

To run the a/c was 3 or 5 CHFs a month. The UBS usually charge 7 CHfs a month and they told me that the 30CHfs charge is for every a/c so if you have 3 different ones it is 90CHFs a month plus I think the 7 on top!!!!

I expect there is a Valaisian bank who will be more sympathetic or if not go to the Poste
