CHF to GBP ???

I am moving back to the UK after living here for a year. I have a bank account with the ZKB but will need to move my money back to a UK account.
Is there any way or a better/cheaper way I can do this without going with cash to a bureau de change?

Thanks

Re: CHF to GBP ???

Yes, just ask your bank. Lucky you though - at least your money will benefit from a great exchange rate (for some).

If you like to have a great rate open at account with oanda, then you send there CHF, convert the amount in GBP and wire the pounds to your UK account.

hifx.co.uk works quite well and you can do it online as long as you are not transferring an enormous amount.

OANDA
Try their transfer service:http://fxglobaltransfer.oanda.com/
The money flow works this way:
Bank A - Currency X > Oanda > Bank B - Currency Y
It really depends how much you are going to transfer. I say this because its a bit of a hassle opening and operating the account.

What could that mean? That you take the money and run away?

+1 for Oanda. We have used it a few times. Cost efficient and fast.

Yeup use Oanda all the time, GBP to CHF and back, USD to CHF, etc. Cheap, quick. Account set-up takes a bit of time, but best spreads and lowest pips you can get.

Re: CHF to GBP ???

May be there are some members who might be interested in offering you a better rate than the bank rate!!!

yes, you can give me the chfs and i'll give you the gbps. however, given the risks of dealing with an internet stranger, you might consider the bank costs to be worth it.

Re: CHF to GBP ???

There is a safe way for both parties! And the costs difference / benefits would depend on the amount to be exchanged.
