You mean like this:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intrum_Justitia_Ireland

Quote:
Through the brand European Payment Info (EPI), Intrum Justitia offers free access to unique information about payment behaviour (including contractual payment terms, delays, durations, and bad debt write-off rates), legal framework (such as statutes of limitations), and credit management.

A Factoring / Debt collection agency.

Have you received a demand ? Or if you owe someone money, and not in arrears, your debt may have been sold on. If in arrears, they may be asking for a payment plan.

If you understand German, google the term Kassensturz and Intrum Justitia....

Apparently a credit rating company, but they also double as debt collector with a very bad reputation.. As I have heard, they are often used when dubious companies try to collect on an invoice, for services that you may or may not have received... lots of legal threats and the like.

What has your experience been so far?

If it was done while they were married, then I think hire a lawyer. I think you need one in this, anyways. If they were not married, I still think it might be hard to prove.

Not too sure what Swiss Law was 10 years ago, is she jointly responsible for debts when married then ? They may have a case.

If not, ask them to supply proof that your wife incurred the debt, ask for signed forms of proof. Tell them that you will instigate harassment proceedings against them if they continue to call you. Leave them an email address and let them know they may only contact you via this address, and that you will block / ignore all other calls.

You may want to consider (reflect on this) giving them the ex's contact details. If he forged signatures or gave false information, it should be a matter for the debtor and the Police and not you.

Re: What is Intrum Justitia?

The issue is the signature was forged and they can not produce the signature document. The ex is now out of Switzerland. Could Intrum Justitia start collection after 10 years with no proof.

They will try their dammed hardest and become a real pain. If you can put up with hassle until they give up, fight them all the way. If a large sum is involved, you may buy some peace and quiet through a solicitor acting on your behalf.

Re: What is Intrum Justitia?

Yes, so far they have been trying hard. On the last call they mentioned going to collection and I am wondering after 10 years what has changed? Is this an idle threat?

Thanks for all the insight

Re: What is Intrum Justitia?

IJ are European wide and have one of the worst reputations in the industry. Be ready to stand your ground firmly and don't be surprised when they ignore or "lose" any communications from you.

My advice would be to deal only by letter, registered, and preferably through a lawyer.

I used to work for a company in the UK who used them for bad debt collections. We dumped them after their highly aggressive and legally dubious methods started impacting our brand. I can't imagine their Swiss arm is any better.

Re: What is Intrum Justitia?

Intrum's shares seem to have been suspended.

Meanwhile I received a bill from them that has been seriously sabotaged.

It doesn't look as though this company is to be taken seriously any more.

A cautious HOOORAY for that.

Not to spoil your party, but the reason and the outcome is slightly different than what you hoped for.

Trading continued this morning slightly after 9am after Intrum released a statement about a binding bid on Intesa Sanpaolo. Intrum shares gained up to 10%.

Or if you want an account with one of their customers like Cablecom. Boycotting the customer is the obvious answer there.

They did deal out serious harassment if you let them.

And it that harassment can get you down, even if you start in the right frame of mind.

Re: What is Intrum Justitia?

Trading in shares of a company will be put on a short halt if something has happened like a sudden drop or fall or clarification has to be made about something. Normally takes a short after which trading continuous.

What/Who is Intrum Justitia?
Inspired by the full wiki: Intrum Justitia
  • "Intrum" is a word that sounds like Latin, but has no meaning in that language.
  • "Justitia" is the name of Lady Justice in Roman mythology.

Wiki: The Goddess Justitia
The origin of Lady Justice was Iustitia, the goddess of Justice within Roman mythology. Iustitia was introduced by emperor Augustus, and was thus not a very old deity in the Roman pantheon.

Re: What is Intrum Justitia?

Alternative definition:

Intrum, noun, the in-between phase from when your life used to be in order, till.... you either flip out completely, or obtain written release, or both.

It takes tenacity and strength to ride it out, especially if you've done nothing wrong in the first place.
