| | Re: Buying a bike in online-shop in Germany. How much do I have to pay when I receive | Quote: | | | | | So here's how the invoice looks:
Einfuhrzollabfertigung - 60.00
Einfuhrsteuerabfertigung - 10.00
Einfuhrsteuer gemäss Quittung - 47.55
Kapitalbereitstellungsgebühr. Steuern - 5.00
Einfuhrzoll gamäss Quittung - 12.00
Kapitalbereitstellungsgebühr Zölle - 5.00
Datatax / NCTS / E-Dec-Gebühr - 22.65
Nachnahmegebühr - 35.00
Administrations costs - 6.80
Out of these costs, Einfuhrsteuer gemäss Quittung - 47.55 and Einfuhrzoll gamäss Quittung - 12.00 are counted as "Total nicht steuerpflichtig" and the rest as "Total MWSt-frei".
GRAND TOTAL - 204.00
How do I find anything wrong with this? | | | | | I would defo challenge this invoice. I find it a bit strange that the invoices from DHL can be so different depending on the issuing office.....oh....mine were issued in Basel as well. If you want to fight them I can send you a copy of my latest DHL invoice relating to a bike purchase from the EU.
Just send me a PM with your mail address and I will mail it to you asap.

Hi, I think they do this when the bike istn't expensive. They want to protect the swiss economy.
That invoice is very complicated.
Please, keep us informed! They ran out of the bikes I purchased... And they will send back the money. I HOPE.
The people from bike-discount are very unprofessional. I would think, that they did something wrong...

I could imagine Swiss Post adding 33% to the price though as an 'admin fee' | | | | | | Quote: | | | | | I got a bike from Canyon.de, cost around 3000chf, had to pay just under 250chf for the tax. | | | | | | Quote: | | | | | Yep, also bought from Canyon, for about the same price, and paid about the same tax. I went to Koblenz to pick it up, as they are not allowed to deliver to CH anymore due to a name dispute. It was well worth the effort. | | | | |
Could it be, that you all bought expensive bikes?
I would like to buy an expensive one too. |

The rest is a sting by DHL. | Quote: | | | | | Einfuhrzollabfertigung - 60.00

Why does he have to pay to DHL but other people doesn't? If they send the bike from Germany with DHL, don't they ship the packet with the swiss post in Switzerland? How do they have to ship the packet to avoid this "extra taxes" from DHL?
Thanks for the explanation.

I raised a Complaint with DHL via email last week... have received a single reply saying that they somebody will get in touch with me; in all probabilities an automated reply... no phone calls yet... but the week has just begun...

what I did find, with not much of an effort is my bike on toppreise.ch, being sold by bikester.ch... here it is advertised as 829.98CHF including shipping charges... if I look at it this way, then my 452.-EUR and 204.-CHF doesn't seem all that bad a deal...

I think you should call them. Ask for the girl named on the invoice you received from me. I wrote her name by hand on it. Tell her about it and refer to your mail as well but don't make it sound like a complaint. Just let her know that you are puzzled by the numbers and would like to be informed. I bet some smooth talk will make her issue a credit note on some of the fees.

That's very strange. I received a big box from Germany with DHL but I didn't have to pay anything like varun.c.jain.
Why? Do they do it randomly and varun.c.jain had bad luck?

It don't really understand their system. Why some people have to pay and some not? I talked with the people from bike-discount.de and they told me that I should pay only the customs (what you expected). That's why they send the packet with DHL.
But it's not so.

I got over it I think... got busy sorting other troubles... my mailbox got almost full with unwanted newspapers (inspite of a sticker saying "Bitte keine Reklamen") over my vacation and the Post decided to stop delivering letters, and sent a letter asking for a fine to resume service... I didn't realise it until quite late, as I wasn't expecting any letters... later I was expecting a letter from the Cantonal office for my B-permit extension when I found out this issue... got delayed with that job and had to pay a fine to them too...
I guess I am in no mood to fight the system here, private or government owned... will just be greeted with " that's how we roll yo!"...

Because your mailbox was full??? I cannot understand it, that they stopped the service and they you hat to pay a fine.
Be positive! I have felt like a stranger in Switzerland too, but then it will be much better... It's a matter of time.
Good luck!
