Buying a bike in online-shop in Germany. How much do I have to pay when I receive it? Hi, I have purchased a bike for 999€ in bike-discount.de but I haven't paid yet. How much do I have to pay when I receive it? - MwSt. 8% -> 80€ - What more? *The 19% Deutsche-MwSt. (Tax) is not inclusiv in the quantity that I have to pay. What more? A swiss friend told me that I have to pay 33% OF THE TOTAL PRICE!!! But I don't find this information in www.zoll.ch What do I have to do? Thanks in advance. :D |
Re: Buying a bike in online-shop in Germany. How much do I have to pay when I receive Depends on shipping as well. If DHL is shipping, they'll make you pay at the door. When I ordered some bike components from Germany, they made me pay a total of about 13%, including the MwSt for Switzerland. But I don't know what shipping you have. 33% sounds unusual, but if you ordered it with ultra expedited shipping, it might cost you a bundle. |
Re: Buying a bike in online-shop in Germany. How much do I have to pay when I receive Thanks. I have found this: Quote:
That 13% includes the 8% swiss-VAT (MwSt)? The colleage bought something in Germany. I don't remember exactly what, but it was 60€, i think. And then he had to pay 30 CHF or so as "Einführungsgebür". I don't know what it is. |
Re: Buying a bike in online-shop in Germany. How much do I have to pay when I receive In my 1 singular case, yes. I bought about 300 Franks worth of equipment. I paid a fee of 23 franks for everything. It was delivered by DHL. |
Re: Buying a bike in online-shop in Germany. How much do I have to pay when I receive I bought a triathlon bike for €1800 last year from jedi sports.de and the tax, delivery and import admin came to an extra 220 CHF or so. This was delivered by DPD. I could imagine Swiss Post adding 33% to the price though as an 'admin fee' :) |
Re: Buying a bike in online-shop in Germany. How much do I have to pay when I receive I got a bike from Canyon.de, cost around 3000chf, had to pay just under 250chf for the tax. |

Incredibly happy with the bike, would recomend, even if you have to pick it up, UPS took 3 tries to deliver it anyway. |
Re: Buying a bike in online-shop in Germany. How much do I have to pay when I receive There's a flat fee of 18CHF if delivered by Post plus 8% of the value (incl. postage costs)once it exceeds a certain amount approx 62CHF if not a gift (then 100CHF). From the post website: In principle, every item sent from abroad is subject to customs duties and VAT. There is no special exemption limit like that allowed for passengers carrying goods with them, only a duty-exemption limit. Accordingly, customs duties and VAT are not charged if the amount calculated is less than CHF 5 for each customs declaration. Furthermore, gifts mailed from individuals living abroad to individuals in Switzerland are duty-exempt up to a value of CHF 100. Goods purchased on the Internet do not satisfy these conditions and are subject to duty in accordance with the general provisions. The maximum values for VAT-exempt imports are: 8% VAT (the majority of items sent) => CHF 62 2,5% VAT (e.g. books) => CHF 200 http://www.post.ch/en/post-startseit...l.htm#txt32983 |

Re: Buying a bike in online-shop in Germany. How much do I have to pay when I receive The easyest way I personally found to deal with ordering thing from Germany or anywere in Europ, is get it sent to an address in Germany just at the border (20min car drive from Zurich)there are allot of stores that offer the service, and bring it over yourself, you might have to pay the 7% at the border not sure if its an item for personel use... |

There is a 12 chf import tax on bikes plus 8 % VAT. Handling fee is different from one transport company to the other. |
Re: Buying a bike in online-shop in Germany. How much do I have to pay when I receive I ordered one from bike-discount.de this month, a simple one worth 529,- € (I paid 452,- € after removal of Germany VAT), and I just got a call from the DHL center at Basel. They said that the cumulative charges will be CHF204.-. They said when I get the invoice on Tuesday, it will contain the details of these charges. I'm quite curious to know how the calculation was made :msnsarcastic: |
Re: Buying a bike in online-shop in Germany. How much do I have to pay when I receive Can you give me some examples of such companies close to the border? Do they give you an "Ausfuhrbescheiningung"? Or how do you claim the German VAT? thanks! fkriszti Quote:

this was done at the recommendation of a German colleague... now I am really wondering whether it was worth the trouble... and couldn't I have just bought a good bike in the same amount here in CH... or maybe not... dunno  |
I honestly believe that they have made a mistake. Last time I had a bike delivered by DHL they by mistake sent me two invoices and they used two different handling fees. When I called and have one of the invoices cancelled I asked about the fee and she gave me a lame explanation about different DHL products. One was DHL express the other not. However, as the fees were based on the same invoice they should have been identical. My bike was approx. 1475 CHF and the total invoice was about CHF 150, so I am sure yours is wrong as your bike is only approx. 600 CHF plus shipping. They charge you 12 CHF in import duty, 8% VAT and about 50 CHF in handling fee. Good luck fighting the invoice. Please report back about the outcome. |
Re: Buying a bike in online-shop in Germany. How much do I have to pay when I receive So here's how the invoice looks: Einfuhrzollabfertigung - 60.00 Einfuhrsteuerabfertigung - 10.00 Einfuhrsteuer gemäss Quittung - 47.55 Kapitalbereitstellungsgebühr. Steuern - 5.00 Einfuhrzoll gamäss Quittung - 12.00 Kapitalbereitstellungsgebühr Zölle - 5.00 Datatax / NCTS / E-Dec-Gebühr - 22.65 Nachnahmegebühr - 35.00 Administrations costs - 6.80 Out of these costs, Einfuhrsteuer gemäss Quittung - 47.55 and Einfuhrzoll gamäss Quittung - 12.00 are counted as "Total nicht steuerpflichtig" and the rest as "Total MWSt-frei". GRAND TOTAL - 204.00 How do I find anything wrong with this? |
