How can i be unemployed when i am actually are (AVS / Taxation / Permit)

I'm having a problem in the core of my administration, which is:

I received taxation forms for 2010 and advance taxes for 2011 to pay, when i called the taxation they said i'm not taxed at source, i explained i have a B permit, then they said cause i'm married, i confirmed my separation since 2009, then they said "Ahhh, it's cause you're unemployed", i have been employed for the past 2 years already, they corrected all the information on the system and said it's all ok and i can forget about that, today i got a porsuite for 2011 taxes

Same happens with AVS, i keep getting money to pay all the time as unemployed since end of 2009, i went to their office, gave them a copy of my contract + salary slips of past 2 years, today i got a bill of 122 CHF to pay for AVS months april to june 2011

I don't know who i should communicate with if they keep correcting it on the system and i keep showing up as unemployed, married person!!!

Apparently, all information on my current status within the government administration is not correct, even though my permit says i'm separated with gainful employment

Hi,
I wanted to ask whether you are sure it's a poursuite for your taxation period 2011. It does make sense to me that you should have got a reminder or two. If they had been billing in Dec or Jan, maybe Feb or March. But poursuite would only make sense if its for the previous taxation period. Even the taxation period 2009 if you have not yet filled out forms for taxes 2010 as you stated in your question.

Then, if it was a poursuite - a form you got delivered - you can oppone - former opposition - within a certain time. This in effect suspends the procedure. There cannot be a 'saisie' as long the 'créancier' has not asked for a 'mainlevée de poursuite'. This buys you time to solve this issue by approaching the tax office.

My advice is to first look it up with your contact person at Service de taxation or Imposés à la source and then at Service de recouvrement http://ge.ch/impots/Horaires_normal

AVS should have no difficulty getting insight in your taxation status to receive indication about your marital status.e.g. If your ex-wife and you have 'taxation commune des époux' until 2009 and 'imposition separée' since 2010.

I have found information that in some cases they proceed a Taxation ordinaire ultérieure. Heres a link Passage de l’imposition à la source à la taxation ordinaire. Don't know if it applies to your tax invoices.

I have not really advice for the problem that you were regarded as unemployed by AVS. I just thought, that only maybe - if your former data within Office cantonal d'emploi remained unchanged for some reason. But it's more likely that internal re-organising at AVS was source to delays in updates of data. I was told so 2 years ago by a friend who worked there.

Being asked to bunk money on your AVS account can have its bright side ;-)

Re: How can i be unemployed when i am actually are (AVS / Taxation / Permit)

New update, I just got letter from the AVS department, settling my account for 2009, 2010 and demanding 1 bill for 2005 (the 3 months after i arrived) and asking me to pay the poursuite fees of 33 CHF which i objected, even though i received it after i submited my documents, these people are just blinded by money and have no brains at all, tomorrow will start round 2 with them and the taxes, guess they need a lecture on how to do their jobs the right way, think a bit and not rely totally on their unreliable IS
