Lucerne will offer Switzerland's lowest corporation tax at the cantonal level

Hello, i do not know where this post fits better (here or business).
Following thousands of posts about taxes and why ppl do not move to Schwyz or Zug i saw this new:

I searched and strangely did not find anything about this.

From

http://www.luzern-business.ch/en/bus...rporate_taxes/

"Lucerne is on the way to becoming Switzerland's most business-friendly canton. The next 50 per cent cut is due in 2012. With that cut, Lucerne will have Switzerland's lowest corporate tax rate at cantonal level."

What do you think will be the consequences of this?

The Guardian had an article about this last year, but I haven't heard much more about it since.

Re: Lucerne will offer Switzerland's lowest corporation tax at the cantonal level

Other cantons are going the same way. Neuchâtel voted recently to reduce company tax by 50% (from 10% to 5%) between now and 2015.

At the same time, the vote introduced the same level of taxation for all companies in the canton, theoretically abolishing the very advantageous tax deals that some multinationals were getting as an incentive to move here. How this will work in practice remains to be seen, as there was a clause in the text that we voted on about tax deals still being allowed in "exceptional circumstances". Presumably, the "exceptional circumstances" get-out will be invoked every time a multinational threatens to move elsewhere if it is asked to pay tax...

Re: Lucerne will offer Switzerland's lowest corporation tax at the cantonal level

We can blame Zurich!

Everyone I know who were on tax agreements in Zurich have left for Zug, Lucerne, and Schwyz. They made it illegal for rich people to live in Zuerich on tax agreements after that Russian guy bulldozed a entire block of houses to build a horrible doomsday bunker of a house....

In essence though that means that the average tax income for the local governments has gone up while expenses have stayed roughly the same.

With all of these rich people living there the other people in the kanton will see their tax burdens decrease. While in Zurich over the next 3 to 5 years the taxs will increase....
