HELP! Taxed at source in Vaud, and live in Geneva

Hi,

I am working in Vaud, and since i'm a B-permit holder, my salary is taxed at source.

however, I am living in Geneva, and contribute to my 3rd pillar.

Question: Am I still taxed in Geneva or Vaud? how should i declare my tax and filing tax returns in Geneva? what kind of paper work need to be done here?

Thanks all in advance.

Wrong - it depends on your permit where you are taxed !

For example in Geneva, there are a lot of people working in Geneva and living in France. They are taxed at source in Geneva.

Sorry, but he is asking about 2 swiss Cantons, and indeed Anthony is correct, it depends on which Canton is your residence, so in this case he should be taxed by Geneva. Taxation in Geneva based on frontalier status is not what he asked about, and that is covered by bilateral accords.

Re: HELP! Taxed at source in Vaud, and live in Geneva

As far as I understand just having recieved my B permit is that taxed at source applies internally in Swtizerland. I am taxed in Basel-Stadt, if I chose to go and live in Zug, it would make no difference to my taxes as I am taxed where I work, not where I live.....hence the "at source".

Please correct me if I am wrong because Basel-Stadt is about as expensive as it gets tax wise.

Re: HELP! Taxed at source in Vaud, and live in Geneva

Have you asked HR if they are deducting tax on behalf of Geneva or Vaud?

They should be able to refer you to a table which shows the percentage deductions from salary depending on your salary level.

When I first arrived, HR somehow neglected to deduct any tax from salary for the first couple of months; so it was a bit of a shock when it all got taken out in one go at the end of the year (i.e. when they trued-up in December).
