Exchange Rate for International Transfer

Hello All,

I am trying to do an international money transfer directly from my internet bank account. Is there some way I can verify the current day's exchange rate?

Thanks.

ManinBlue has no particular reputation at present
Re: Exchange Rate for International Transfer

XE will give current Market Rate, but generally the beneficiary bank will not give that much so better to check on you banks website how much they offer for that particular day.

see below for similar threads...

this has been discussed a gazzilion times

doing it through your bank is the worst possible way of transfering money, and they don't really tell you what they will charge. they are quite fair though and charge around 2% from the mid so just take whatever amount, check online for the going rate and usually the rate they charge is around 2% less from that.

Agreed,

But Credit Suisse will "agree" to a rate if the transfer amount exceeds 50,000chf
(The bank lady told me this - She was very rude, so she must be important)

Re: Exchange Rate for International Transfer

Echoing the post above, there are a few threads (ok, there are a gazillion) on this already but don't pay more than 0.6% spread (difference between buy and sell price). There should be no commission and no fees, the transferring party makes the net spread which is the difference between the narrow commercial spread and the wider consumer spread that you pay

I use ozforex.com as i have had them checked out but there are loads. You need a source bank account and a receiving bank account denominated in the right currency (CHF probably for this one) and you will need to fill in a form to open the trading account for Anti Money Laundering reasons.

All in all if its 50k you should save 1.4% or 700 of whatever the source currency is. Not bad for one form and a phone call
