I understand that the tax rate for capital gains on the sale of a house is based on a schedule that varies with the length of time that the house has been owned. I have been unable to locate this schedule. Can anyone point me to a link?

It is canton specific. I could give you the link to Vaud, but probably not too useful for you. Look at your Canton's main webpage, going into the tax or housing sub-sections and you should find it.
