..received a $8,000 tax credit and then pretended they still lived in the US in order to not have to pay back that credit (for leaving their primary residence with the mandatory 3 year period) even though they have lived the entire 2011 year in Zurich...
Give me your friend's social security number, I might be able to help out.

Seriously...

Basically you're asking honest U.S. tax payers who live abroad, for advise on how you (let's be honest, your imaginary friend has nothing to do with it) can use fraudulent means to avoid having to pay back a tax credit which was paid (in part) from our tax dollars?

Yeah, good luck with that....

Hey everyone...if one were to have bought a house in the US 2 years ago, received a $8,000 tax credit and then pretended they still lived in the US in order to not have to pay back that credit (for leaving their primary residence with the mandatory 3 year period) even though they have lived the entire 2011 year in Zurich, with a job and bank account here, would they be able to get away with it?
Tell them that they should enjoy the fact that they got a 2-year, interest-free loan of $8000 from the US government.
