opening a Credit Suisse account in the US

I'll be starting a job in Geneva in June. There is a Credit Suisse branch near me in the US now. I would like to open an account in this branch to ease the move a bit. Has anyone else done this, and are there any problems that I'm overlooking? Thanks

Re: opening a Credit Suisse account in the US

Credit Suisse USA just does investment banking, I think. I don't believe there are any banks where you can have a linked US-Swiss account. Opening an account here doesn't take long and then you can transfer money in from a US account.

Ah! Not sure why I didn't think of this. Thanks for pointing it out!

right now, as far as i understand, swiss banks are not excited to open an account with americans. if you can possibly open an account in the US that gives you a decent rate on international transfers and so forth, i would jump on it (being that these fees can add up really quick.) good luck!

Not strictly true, some will, some won't. There's plenty of threads about it here, you just need to look.
