We want to return the tax for the Krippe. In this form http://www.steueramt.zh.ch/dam/finan...2012_v4_r7.pdf (Antrag für quellensteuerpflichtige Arbeitnehmende auf Neuveranlagung der Quellensteuer 2011), they ask for the following documents:

2 Zahlungsnachweise und Quittungen beilegen
12 Kopie der Geburtsurkunde, worauf die Namen der Eltern ersichtlich sind
14 Detaillierte Kostenaufstellung beilegen

What exactly is that? Should I make copies of money transferes, or also find all orange slips from the Krippe? Contract with the Krippe? Point 14 is not clear for me...

Another question is where to write it: on my name or on my husband - I pay higher Quellensteuer, can I write all on myself? Or does it have to be stricktly written on the person who actually made money transfer - we did it both, sometimes we paid from my account, sometimes from my husband's.

Should we claim 01.2011-12.2011 period or April 2011 till March 2012?

The tax year is 1st Jan - 31st Dec, so "01.2011-12.2011 period" for you.

BTW when is the last date to fiel a 'correction' with the tax people? Kanton Zurich, but a Geminde outside the city...

I thought it is end of March everywhere - but better confirm with someone else.

Tax year here runs from Jan 1 to Dec 31. In Kanton Zurich at least (maybe it's the same for other Kantons but I've no idea at this stage), tax returns for the 2011 year should be completed and submitted by Mar 31, 2012.

You (or your tax advisor/accountant) can apply for an extension for submission if needed until Nov 30, 2012. In a friend's case, their tax advisor charges CHF5.00 if they request it. Have no idea if this is standard or not.

Answering my own question, I called the taxation office and they said I should send:

• confirmation of payments - bank statements
• copy of birth certificate
• statement from the Krippe that I made those payments!

I'm looking at this closely now, and the amoutn of paperwork they want is incredible... To think that a one page simple form from a few years back has now mutated into a four page monstrosity

Oh well, enough complaining, back to the form and my dictionary...

Actually, if you are on tax at source and only want to request a 'correction' of your tax bill for 3rd pillar and/or childcare, then you must get your aplication in by the 31st March (well, posting date of 31st is OK, "Poststempel massgebend" it states on the 2011 form) and no extension is possible (at least that is what is written on the 2011 form "Frist nicht ersteckbar").
