Quellensteuer refund - through employer or direct to you?

When doing the form to claim back on withholding tax, I noticed there is a place for banking details. Should I assume that a refund is paid directly to your account? Or does this get reimbursed through one's employer/salary? Thank you!

Usually tax refunds go straight into your account, it's nothing to do with your employer.

Re: Quellensteuer refund - through employer or direct to you?

I recd a refund once... about 5 or 7 years ago. The refund advice was mailed to me, and all I had to do was go to the post office with an ID and the person at the counter just handed me the crisp bank notes... mmmm thats what i call a nice start to the weekend
This user would like to thank dino for this useful post:

I have the same experience; straight into your own bank account - you have a 'running' tax account with the tax authorities, your employer is just passing on the tax they deduct from your salary, but it doesn't work the other way around. So fill in your own account details and - hopefully - you'll get a refund.
