Help with Tax Declaration

I performed a search on this but couldn't get a fitting answer

I was married last year to a C-Permit holder and around the middle of the year I stopped paying Quellensteuer. I received a form from my tax office which I filled out so that they can bill me pro rated tax for the remainder of 2011. I filled this out, got a bill and paid this bill.

1st question: Is my obligation for 2011 finished or do I still have to fill out an official tax declaration for that year? Mind you the form I filled out last year used my 2010 salary to estimate my taxes.

2nd question: My wife and I received a letter with two tax declaration sheets and a letter saying that in 2011 we were treated as single persons and in 2012 we will be taxed as one. However the tax formulas said 2011 (does that answer Question 1) on them. In the same letter we got our tax bill for this year.....Is there another formula that I will have to fill out (this year) in order to pay the correct tax this year (with all the deductions, etc) or do i only amend this bill in 2013?

Sorry for the confusing questions...Between these and US taxes, I don't know left from right anymore

Re: Help with Tax Declaration

Hi
a) married in 2011: Spring 2012 you declare both income as a single person. As of next spring (2013) there is only 1 declaration for both.
b) yes you do need to fill out the declaration with the salary statement received probably end of January for 2011.
The tax bill 2011 is most probably not the definite one. Normally it is marked as provisional or definite.

a) are you saying that both in 2011 and 2012 we will be paying seperate tax and will only be taxed as a couple in 2013?

b) So I need to use the form to do my final tax calculation for 2011? (to see if i paid too much/little between the quellensteuer and normal tax.)

Maybe it depends on the canton, as we got married last year and received only one tax form, sent to the both of us.

guarana has no particular reputation at present
Re: Help with Tax Declaration

In most of the cantons, only one tax return would need to be submitted. The canton of Zurich is one of the exceptions, where the determining factor is the marital status as of January 1 and not December 31.
