Warranty on purchases abroad ( VAT issue )

I've bought a new bike in Germany and plan to claim back part of the VAT; to do this I usually have the ticket plus a form stamped at the customs office and then deliver the whole thing to the store to get some money back. If I do the same this time I'd be losing the my warranty.

Has anyone been in the same situation? If so, how did you solve it? Do I really have to give up my warranty?

you only give the form back, not the receipt.

Re: Warranty on purchases abroad ( VAT issue )

Some shops insist on keeping the receipt. Just give the shop a photocopy of the receipt together with the form.
