When can I expect to receive my tax return form?

Hi, I am expecting to have to complete a tax return form but have not yet received anything in the post. I live in Zurich. Does anyone know when these get posted? I would have expected to receive this by now. It's my first year in Switzerland so new to this. Do I sit and wait for a form to arrive or contact the Gemeinde asking where it is?

Thanks for your help.

Re: When can I expect to receive my tax return form?

You only get the forms 'automatically' if your gross salary is over 120K.

If you have not completed a full year in Switzerland, then you might not 'hit the system' until the following year, when your employer puts the salary statements in (these are done for Jan-Dec financial year, usually sent to you in late January).

If you are not sure, you could always go to the 'Steueramt' in Zurich with your documents, and ask them. There are definitely tax return packages that can be picked up from the office - we went there at the end of last year because of a problem with our tax payments (Quellensteuer) and they were very helpful (even if it wasn't what we wanted to hear ).

The system will definitely catch up with you sooner or later, but it's not hard to get advice directly from the 'Steueramt'...

Re: When can I expect to receive my tax return form?

Thanks so much for your response. I received my salary statement in February. As you say, I'm sure the tax authorities will catch up with me sooner or later.

Thanks again.

Re: When can I expect to receive my tax return form?

Similar question regarding Kanton Zug. I moved here in November, have so far fully settled my 2011 tax bill but have not yet paid anything for 2012.

I'm a bit surprised by this, as in NE I used to pay in ten monthly instalments starting in February. When do they send the bills out in ZG - do you pay it all in one go?

Re: When can I expect to receive my tax return form?

Hi All,
I see you have already passed from "tax form"...while I'm going to come to live/work in Switzerland, yet.
I'm going to have a wage >120K CHF, so I must fill it, but, what I wanted to know, is it normal that in a "standard" case (I assume I pay social insurance, 3rd pillar and normal things) I will have to pay more taxes or is it normally the opposite?
I'm holding a B permit and living in ZH kanton.
Thanks to all!

PS: I looked for other discussions about it, maybe I'm too naif, but it seemd to be obvious to everybody and nobody mentioned!

It depends on EXACTLY where you live, if your husband/wife has a job. Your world wide income & wealth is taxed which could make more of a difference.

Re: When can I expect to receive my tax return form?

Ok, so...I've seen that the commune I'll be living has the highest tax rate of the kanton
I'm married, but I'll be the only working and I have no WW incomes and wealth except the Swiss wage.

My fear is: should I expect a killing amount to be paid or, anyway, if in plus or minus it's just a "small" adjustment?
