Second Largest French Bank Goes Bust, Bailed Out By French Government

For some reason there is very little news of the second largest mortgage lender in France (Credit Immobilier) going bust over the weekend.

The French government had to bail them out as the interbank markets shut off their funding last week.

This is the equivalent to Wells Fargo going bust in the United States, or Credit Suisse going bust in Switzerland.

Its a bit disturbing that this is going under the radar. People need to understand that the system is pretty close to some sort of cracking point.

that's disturbing indeed... we have Bloomberg muttering away in the corner of the office all day. I don't think they have mentioned it this morning ...
