Australia-Switzerland Social Security Agreement

I saw a notice in Saturday's "The West Australian" regarding the new Australia-Switzerland Social Security Agreement coming into effect on January 1st 2008. Haven't really digested the fine details but I located a PDF fact sheet regarding the impact on Australians & Swiss who have worked in Switzerland and reside in Australia.

Australian Expats - NO need to pay AVS anymore

In case there are any Aussies out there that have not heard.
On Jan 1st the Australian and Swiss government came to an agreemeent for pension/superannuation - Yawn yawn...except what it means for Aussie Expats living in Switzerland, we no longer have to pay AVS as we already pay super in Aus. Net = 6% extra in your pay packet. This CAN be back-paid as well from 1st jan! Am waiting for my little vacation bonus to arrive this month! Your HR person will be able to sort out details!
Yippee!!!

I'm glad to hear there's some compensation for being Australian! It's a heavy cross to bear.

This seems to be the best info:
http://www.ato.gov.au/superprofessio...t/00115921.htm

Seems to only cover the double-charge scenario.

This should help!
Don't believe there is any benefit unless your employer currently pays super for you in Aus.
