bank transfers FROM the US

Hi all,

New to the forums as a poster but have lived in CH and the US for about 15 years. Over the years banks in both countries have upset me but am now VERY happy with my Swiss bank (EEK only one branch). Now my US bank is another deal.

If I want/need to transfer money from the states to CH it takes about 45 minutes at the branch office and they need more numbers than the US fed and the SNB combined. On top of all that they charge me 45 bucks for each one.

I would be interested if anyone has an online or retail bank which is a)cheaper and b) if possible allows such transactions to be made online. I would be elated if the US banks ever understood IBAN since I've had no trouble in Asia, middle east, Europe or Africa. But then again my US credit card still has no EMV chip, which is a hassle in France...

Ah a small rant to start out but hey it is the banks after all :-)

Cheers,

Phillyman

I use an online currency exchange www.currencyfair.com. The cost of transfer of the money after you have exchanged it is very low, for example to transfer to a European country costs €3
