Experience of Viseca/Kantonalbank credit cards

I recently took out a Kantonalbank/Banque Cantonale credit card, which is provided by a company called Viseca.

The bills for the card say that the money will be recovered by LSV from my bank account, but they don't say when. The website seems to suggest I have 30 days to contest the bill, which would in turn suggest that I have 30 days before the funds are recovered. Has this been anyone's experience? I'm used to direct debit notices saying exactly when the funds will be taken from the account.

On a related note, the Viseca website displays an orange BVR slip which would suggest I need to do something with that in order for the payment to go through; although I assumed the point of LSV was that this was not necessary. Again, any experience of this with Viseca?

Re: Experience of Viseca/Kantonalbank credit cards

What you find is that the statement comes out around 21-25th of each month and then the money is directly taken from your account a few says later. They do provide a good online service so you can monitor what transactions have been charged to the card.

Generally have found them to be quite ok but cant speak on experience of challenging a transaction as I havent had to yet. They also have a good set of insurances attached to the cards

Have used them for a few years - the debit leaves your account a few days after the statement - normally around the 29th of the month.

The online is ok - but i have had a few occasions where the transactions have only appeared when the bill is issued.
i have appealed against a few charges and was no problem at all

They offer a good service but it has happened to me twice that the actual card got damaged and I could not use it (chip got broken or something), only THAT card so maybe there is something wrong with how they manufacture them not sure but that is the only complain.

Thanks, everyone for that, and especially to Wallabies and Itzoe. Once I find the thanks buttons I will click them...

Has anyone changed from the LSV system to paying "manually" by orange BVR with online banking (or post office if that's your thing)?

Re: Experience of Viseca/Kantonalbank credit cards

have been using Viseca for almost 5 years.
no complaints - in addition they have useful online services
- check your bills online via web account.
- sms notifications for debits.all or over a certain amt.
-a email/sms notification to alert you when the bill is available for payment.
I prefer to keep the lsv system- a forgotten BVR/ late payment charges are quite steep.

cheers

Re: Experience of Viseca/Kantonalbank credit cards

The 30-day challenge on LSV is standard practice in Switzerland. If you challenge an LSV debit, the bank will refund the amount, inform the bill issuer, who will then have to recover the amount some other way (regular bill with paying-in slip for example). So that isn't something specific to Viseca.
I've had a cantonal bank issued credit card for about 20 years operated by Viseca. During that time I've had a couple of occasions when things have gone wrong, card charged twice, being scammed by Avis and each time, I have called Viseca, had to supply documentary evidence and the issue has been resolved.

Re: Experience of Viseca/Kantonalbank credit cards

I have a BCGE card from viseca and my LSV payment came out yesterday, a few days after the statement was issued.

What I have not found is the option to change from LSV to another method of paying.. At least online - I havn't bothered to call them yet.

Thinking I might want to do that if I had an unexpected large bill or something.

I've used them without problems.
I believe the card is insured for airline flight purchases as well - as in, they should refund you the difference if you are charged by an airline for canceling a trip. I haven't tried it yet though so I don't know how good they are about it.

Re: Experience of Viseca/Kantonalbank credit cards

Sorry to ressurect an old thread, but we've been having problems with Viseca recently. They seem to have lost our registration details, so it's impossible to buy anything online with our MCs. I know we have registered with Viseca, more than once I believe, and we can check our CC details from the Raiffeisen ebanking and we get an email notification from Viseca that our monthly statement is ready verification, but each time we try to confirm a purchase, it won't accept the password. It's a right royal pain in the arse. Anyone else getting this?

I have another thread going where I can't use my Viseca card on Lycamobile to buy a top up.. It gets to the confirm purchase but where it wuold normally trigger the viseca app on my phone -- then fails.

I thought it was just a lycamobile problem since i can login to viseca-one website and it looks like everything is enabled and good.

My problem with testing -- since then, everything I've bought online did not require the verification step!! I'm waiting for a chance to buy something online that uses this step so I can see if works.
