Remaining 2nd pillar transferred to UK state pension?

I left Switzerland permanently in 2004 after 13 years employment. I received a sum of around GBP 10,0000 shortly after my departure and understood that the remaining moneys would go directly into my state UK pension. I just want to check that this is the case? If so, how would I check?

Many thanks

You will get a Swiss old age pension in addition to what you are entitled to from the UK . The UK requires 30 years the Swiss requires 44 qualifying years for a full pension

Re: Remaining 2nd pillar transferred to UK state pension?

Thanks for the replies. I'm relieved to know that I'm entitled to something, but is my understanding correct that the avs contributions I accumulated have been transferred to the UK already? Is there a way of finding this out?

Re: Remaining 2nd pillar transferred to UK state pension?

You presumably still have the paperwork concerning the contributions paid in Switzerland, the 10,000 pay-out when you left in 2004, details of who your employer was at the time, your AVS number?

I'd try contacting either your ex-employer or the AVS office in your old canton.
Or you could try the UK Department of Work and Pensions, giving them as many details as possible; they should be able to tell you if they've received a transfer of contributions or not, and if so, what those contributions will be worth in UK pension terms.

No AVS is not transferred anywhere , its in CH.

You can ask for a print out of contributions

Re: Remaining 2nd pillar transferred to UK state pension?

I do vaguely remember it being cited as a possibility many years ago... this would have been before Shengen and other agreements between the EU and Switzerland.

The easiest way for the OP to check is to do as I've suggested, ask their ex-canton's AVS section and the DWP.

For people who worked less than a year a refund was paid, however the op lived here for a long time

Re: Remaining 2nd pillar transferred to UK state pension?

And they've received some kind of a refund; which is already odd.
As they left in 2004 isn't it possible they came under older rules rather than the ones you're used to?

It took you nine years to join EF and ask that question? And GBP 10,0000 is an interesting sum.

You seem to fit the pattern.
