| | Re: Do you ever think that you get paid too much? | Quote: | | | | | As cheap as that I know someone with a 1 bedroom flat in Mongolia selling it for USD 10M | | | | | Not really, a huge amount of very grotty London property sells over a £700,000.
Once you go to a nice area or really Central London, you will pay vastly more.
Edit Just had a look, a nice 2 bed flat in a good area will be about £2,000,000 or 3,000,000 CHF
According to this report the highest priced property is Monaco followed by Hong Kong, followed by London. Geneva being substantially cheaper than London. http://www.wealthx.com/articles/2013...state-markets/

If you were paid 120K CHF six years ago then that would have been the equivalent of £50K because the exchange rate was 2.4
Today, 120k CHF seems to be £80K because the exchange rate is 1.5
The only thing that has changed is the exchange rate. Salary and cost of living in Switzerland is still the same. | | | | | and now 120k is around £90k at 1.3

No, I never think that... in fact considering how expensive everything is, I always think that I don't get paid enough. In general, money is a tricky thing because you always spend what you make, at least most people have this tendency.

At what limit would you say, "OK, I have enough money now. I'm going to quit and retire?" | | | | | Retire in CH or retire in a lower cost country?
I certianly don't consider working until I drop an attractive proposition and by a combination of saving up and investing wisely I'm hoping I can bring my retirement date forward some years.

I was always satisfied as long as I could pay my bills and live a comfortable life. Not overpaid neither underpaid.
However, in the last year, while my salary has increased a certain %, my responsibilities and the stress associated with the job have increased a multiple of that %. I love what I do but, although still at the embryo level, it's starting to negatively impact my quality of life.
So I am considering either getting more money, or cutting back on the stress i.e. doing a more regular, 9-5 type, lower stress job. Heck, I am getting too old for flying 24 hours for a 2-day business meeting, then turn around and fly straight back...* *...like I am doing this coming week... |
