Tax declaration for spouses registered in different cantons

My wife has a visa B (student) and I have a visa B (work). We are registered in different cantons. Each of us has a personal bank account. My wife is a student and works only 6 hours a week, I work full time. When I fill out my tax declaration, do I need to include my wife's bank account and her earnings?

Last year, when she didn't work, I included her bank account and in the end the tax office sent me a bill to pay additional taxes, although I expected to return 35% from at least my bank account interest gain. It looks like they didn't separate our accounts.

Husband & wife are taxed together.

1) What do you mean "registered in different cantons"? Do you rent 2 different homes and live seperately? Or you share a home and both registered at the same town hall? If you live together you pay taxes together, if you are renting 2 places you pay seperatetly (with some exceptions where you can also ask to pay together). Usually, there is little ambiguity as the tax return comes pre-filled with the names of the people in the household.

2) For the 35% i'm pretty sure they "refunded" it, but perhaps there were other elements in your tax return to pay, so you ended up with a net extra cost to pay.

Re: Tax declaration for spouses registered in different cantons

Thank you for answering. With registered in different cantons I mean that we rent two flats. When I asked at the canton tax office whether we should fill out the declaration together they didn't know and said that I should send everything, which I fear is to my disadvantage.
