New PostFinance online banking interface Oh, PostFinance, what have you done? Your old e-banking interface was straightforward and easy to use. But your new interface is rubbish. Sure, it looks very pretty, but it has all the hallmarks of being attacked by designers instead of real users. As interesting as it is to know my total portfolio balance, or what percentage of my income I spend on residential expenses as a pretty pie chart, wouldn't it make more sense to show me my individual account balances on the first screen? Surely that must be one of the most common reasons someone logs onto their e-banking account? Why do organizations insist on tinkering with something that isn't broken? http://www.switzerlanded.com/graphic..._interface.jpg |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface UBS had a similar crap makeover. Seems to be an increasing trend of Apple-isation: frippery over function. |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface Have you noticed recently, lot of websites, OS; insist on adapting their entire GUI for tablets/touch screens!!! This postfinance looks the same, they think they have to provide a fashionable interface or an usable one? (Don't ask for both :D) |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface While it seems to give me more unnecessary information, I find it hard to find the basics now. I have sent them my views. |

It takes another click to get to the 'Assets' page to see my account balances, and even then, it's not very easy to identify which account is which, as the balance is in huge figures while the account name and number is in tiny, undecipherable text (and truncated, just to make it more of a guessing game). In general, I only want two things out of e-banking: to see my account balances and transactions ("do I have enough in this account to make an anticipated purchase?" "has my salary been properly paid into my account?" "has my wife been on a shopping spree?") and to make payments. Anything else is fluff for me. It's an appallingly bad overhaul. |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface I make regular payments to Credit Suisse for my Coop credit cards, and Post Finance lists them as "unknown type of payment". |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface (whisper) I quite like it :D |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface On the contrary, I found the old one crap and not very intuitive. The new one is more in line what I have in other banks. |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface I went in there the first time yesterday and it took me a while to find where my templates are. Not intuitive at all and I m not interested in the pie charts of my buying behavior because they don't know what I bought anyway if I go to a store like coop that has food, clothes, trips, tickets etc:confused: |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface First world problem! In 6 months time you'll all have forgotten what the old version looked like and will be happily using the new version. Now a somewhat more valid complaint - my bank(Kantonal Bank) reworked their system some months ago....and took away the English option. To have this, I would need to get(and pay for) a third party piece of software. Progress? I think not! |

Maybe there are some functions that are there that weren't before, but as I didn't need/want them before, I can't say there has been any improvement, on the contrary in fact. Indeed, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface I like it. There are a lot of screwups made in the move to a flat, responsive site (that "designed by an untidy teenager with bad eyesight" look) but this one is quite restrained and intuitive. And, lets face it, the old one was really a bit of a mess; it's just that everybody was used to it. |

Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface I thanked the OP, went to look at it myself, decided I like the new design, and removed my thanks. I'm so fickle. |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface It's a little flashy, but the old design was so fugly that I don't mind. We'll be used to it within a week. |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface Does it still require an Enigma code-breaking device to de-encrypt access to your account? I gave up trying to access one of my accounts because I was losing valuable time messing around with their log in complications. |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface New design good for me - helped me realise I hadn't paid any UPC bills since arriving in CH (I thought setting up e-billing was the same idea as Direct Debit - whoops). Anyway, all paid now so no harm done (hopefully)... :o |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface I don't know what the old interface looks like but I like the new one too  I think people will just need to get used to the new look. Website design has gone through a lot of changes over the last 10 years and you will seen get used to the new "paradigm". |

When you logged onto the old website, the home screen was a listing of all of your accounts and their respective balances. Clicking on any of these accounts took you into the detailed transaction view for that account. This was extremely intuitive, and it meant that the most relevant information (account balances) was the first thing you saw. Nearly every e-banking site I've used adopts the same approach. This crazy "aggregate of all your accounts" and "how you spend your money" is interesting if you are doing your annual budgeting or trying to calculate your net worth. But displaying it instead of information that's useful on a daily basis was a crazy design decision to make. Imagine the dashboard in your car. Take the speedometer function, move it into the small display screen at the side of the dashboard and require two clicks on the 'info' button in order to display the current speed. Where the speedometer used to be, put the 'Trip elapsed distance' in enormous, prominent numbers right in the center of the dash. That's basically what this PostFinance update did -- they've hidden the most useful, relevant information and replaced it with a "nice-to-know". |
Re: FAIL: New PostFinance online banking interface Have you considered the possibility that you and your needs are an outlier in the universe of postfinance users? For instance, lot of people use ebills. Logging in to see the exact details of numerous accounts might not be a normal use case and as such the design reflects that? |
