Credit card fraud [UBS]

Anyone ever dealt with UBS & credit card fraud?

I noticed on Friday that there were two payments on my credit card internet statement that I hadn't made. Called UBS and stopped the card. They said to send an email reporting that I thought these payments were fraudulent, which I sent on Friday evening. I've not heard anything back from them yet. Just wondering how long I should leave it before chasing them up? It was only about 50chf, but I'd like it back!

My wifes credit card was stolen a few months ago - I was just about to block it when I realised they were spending less than her. :D;)

You do online banking? Send an email to your contact there as well and ask him/her to check for you. The card processing center from UBS is a different company but your contact may be able to chase this.

As for timing of the return of the funds, last time it happened to me I had it back within a week.

Twice I've had my UBS credit card cloned and both times they refunded me everything in full before the next statement even came out.

Great. I've sent a message via online banking to my client advisor.

Hopefully I'll hear something soon.

New card has same long card number as old one... expected it to be different due to fraud. I assume different security number and expiry date is enough to stop the fraudster??

You can, incidentally, set up a notification in UBS online banking, so that you are informed by SMS etc. of all card debits (over 40 Fr.) as they occur.

It should do the trick although it is not as safe as a new card. Strange though, we had a card fraud at work recently and the replacement card had a new number.

Cancelled my second swiss master card today. Hackers. Somewhere doing it somehow. Hope they choke at 2am on their mountain dew fizzy drinks.

The UBS guy was very interested in all the details. He was also interested that the card cancelling centre FAILED to cancell my credit card when I noticed that someone in Nevada USA was buying car parts for their ford using my card. The hacker tried several times to get the money out.

BLOCKED

And any money that went out after I cancelled it WILL be paid by UBS. And they will too. Hackers must be a nightmare for banks.

Hard to pick a side yes? The hackers or the banksters...:msnshock:.

.

Now I am off to get a pre-paid credit card. bb

Hi,

Only to commet, USB does not sent e-mails. When I opened my account they told me they don't sent emails and when you call phone service they tell you :" We don't sent emails"

best

Most of the fraud is usually not online but in cloning and the methods are getting cleverer.
Tricks like dropping the card behind the counter and picking it up whilst skimming it on a leg device are common. Diners in restaurants are a prime target and I did read an interesting article about never using your card in Italy - unless necessary.

The stress that this causes to many people and the elderly is one factor that is not taken into account. I knew an elderly lady who was scammed and she never really got over it.

Not regular emails, but you can contact them through your online banking.

not really, why does a retail bank, where 99% of population stores most of their cash should be on same level of trust as a common criminal? Did any retail bank you ever used steal from you or did something outside your signed contract with them?

Don't use your card in restaurants in the U.S. either.

UBS Credit Card Service is a separate company. AFAIK, you can contact them only by letter or by phone. If you try to use the email service of your bank account they'll tell you they cannot deal with your problem because of above reason.
UBS once made a credit in my favor by mistake and I asked them to correct it and give notification in written form. Beware of these crooks and if possible use a prepaid card.

How does using a prepaid card help you, vs for example simply having a low credit limit? If anything it's worse as you've already paid rather than having several weeks to challenge any amount.

I assume by "crooks" you mean banks - so who do you propose to get a prepaid card from, that doesn't also issue credit cards and thus become a "crook" in your eyes?

Well, I'm a spend-not-above-your-income type of guy — of course, unless you plan to invest, blah, blah… So your credit card choice depends on how you manage your finances and your needs.

The point of my post was, UBS Credit Card Service make technical errors, check your statements, get feedback in written form. I would choose an alternative considering the security, mainly for online services they provide. UBS seems fine in this regard.

OK, so I just don't get it - they made an error (in your favour) so you call them "crooks"?

What do you call companies that make an error against you??

As for the online service security - UBS comes top on all the tests, it's certainly more secure than the laughable username and single password setup at my cantonal bank. Who would you recommend?

I call them crooks for other reasons. Stick to UBS until you can find a better alternative. A while ago I couldn't find a better one, I don't know of other actual offerings. I pay only some Rappen for the occasional SEPA transfer. Otherwise my account doesn't originate any additional costs and online security is fine. Regarding banks I'm a cheap bastard :D
