just an interesting point here. when im topping up currently the "verified by visa" screen is being presented, however you cant enter anything in it - it isnt resized to fit on an iphone 5s and you cant scroll around = you literally cant enter it and payment is refused!

infurating.

ps. why I can't edit my previous psot? :'(

MSE still works but you will get the bonus after 1000 GBP in top-ups.

MSE doesn't work to me.. And I don't receive the sms for registering. I know this is not an IT support forum but did someone experiment the same issues? Did you register with a swiss phone number?

The new version of the app (2.4.3) now allows you to email yourself / print monthly statements... Not a ground breaking feature but a necessary one if you need statements for whatever reason.

Thanks everyone for bringing this up. Have just opened the account, scanned in my passport etc (and one horrible selfie.....) and will send some money over to use when we are on holidays in the UK.
So far it went really smoothly so hope it stays that way.

As mentioned by others, it would be really nice if they would add the CHF!

Edit: Your identity has been successfully verified. That was fast!

Update: I transfered some EUR to the card this morning, got a message this evening the funds were credited. Good!

Now for the next test soon: paying in GBP :)

When using the card in the UK in GBP you can't get DCC'd, because it's detected as a domestic card.

You can swap your EURs into GBP now and spend 1:1 in GBP, or leave your balance in EUR and see automatic swapping happening as you spend.

I guess the change now / change later issue is a trading question, not a Revolut question. But you now have options. :)

Why would you want DCC, that would kill the whole idea of the revolut card as exchange rate would be set by a 3rd party, right?

Isn't there a requirement to always being asked at the POS? At least that's what is happening to me all the time.

Insofar "can't get DCC'ed" would rather be "mistakenly choose to use DCC"? (On the other hand, last I checked, Amazon was pre-selecting DCC, which I consider Bad Boy Behaviour)

Yep - Amazon.de hid (ie I didn't spot it) the fact it was going to charge my credit card in GBP instead of EUR last time I used it. I discovered it when the confirmation email came, so cancelled the order (which is instant) and re-ordered more carefully.

To get on the investment list, you need at least 6 contacts on revolut (hence my OP) ;)

So Revolut, is looking for investors! (More info: Investment Page)

Apparently they are offering regular customers a chance to invest a total of £1'000'000!

Their presentation (attached) is also interesting regarding their plans for the next few months, which includes accepting CHF and a host of other currencies as top up currencies! :msncool:

Anyone else thinking of investing? There are risks involved (see FAQs) with investment in a company like this so this is by no means a post to encourage others to invest but I believe it's a nice gesture if indeed the customers are offered the chance to invest at an early stage along with big VCs.

I've pre-registered, but there's an additional barrier or having to have at least 4 (now 6) connected contacts on Revolut. I was thinking we probably have enough EF users here to connect with each other and qualify.

http://www.englishforum.ch/finance-b...ent-round.html

I couldn't find the company on crowdcube, but potentially it could qualify for EIS relief.

I've asked for your thread to be merged with this one and sent you a PM.

I am already on the list so far but I could easily be pushed out if the majority that meet the £1mil have more Revolut contacts than I do .

I am in no rush to invest in them to be honest, looks like they have a lot of people ready to throw cash at them, and although I think it's a great business, I don't know how they will manage the money so not gonna go out of my way to invest in them.

OK. The £1m on offer is already oversubscribed by 6x and requires (currently) 12 contacts - I guess 16+ as time goes on.

Yeh it's insane :D

I mean this is only day 1!!!! The deadline is the 18th, I will not be annoying all my friends just to get them to sign up, so that I can invest in something that might or might not make any money! :msnsick:

This is looking more and more like a marketing stunt rather than a funiding exercise... They are clearly not short of people willing to support them financially.

Oh well I guess none of us will get a chance to have a share of the business that we love to use but at least we can be a part of the "experience"? :msnsarcastic:

Really hope this doesn't backfire on them! :D

Other companies, especially in the financial sector, could learn: Offer simple products which are worth their money = success

Having said the above, I hope so, too. It does seem more like a marketing stunt. Or they didn't think it through and didn't expect that much uptake.

With the current amount on the table they don't need any VCs.

But then again - would they all go through?

A bit of a mistery here!

It's clearly just for marketing, it doesn't really make sense for them to take small shareholders. Esp. not through crowdcube.

You don't think they will go through with it in the end?

I believe they will, I mean it's a kind of pre-IPO valuation although an IPO might be a long way away... Will be interesting to see how much equity they will actually release in return for £1mil, 1%???

I have limited to none existant knowledge when it comes to valuation, with any knowledge based purely on watching dragen's den :msntongue:

I like the product because I know how much money it saves me, but would I put money into it? It's a completely different ball game. A major player could buy them out or worse still replicate what they're doing...

That coupled with a fact I have no experience in this field (frankly noone does), I would rule myself from any investment other than a few hundred franks worth of a pure punt.

I think they will go through with it. But the £1m is just for marketing. They could have offered the full £8m to VCs without problem (they already signed up £7m in VC money).

To be honest, it would have made more sense for them to offer only to pre-existing CrowdCube customers - though I guess any potential investor will need to sign up with CrowdCube anyway.

So just a small update on the investment round announcement...

The number of contacts required to be on top of the list of the people, who are basically gonna get first refusal of the investment proposition, is now 26  with 5 days to go and £14 million pledged!

The number of people meeting the 26 contacts requirement is 189 which means on average the pledge is around £5000!

I have 15 so far including 3 from EF. The rest I personally referred

By the they posted a message saying that they might cap the amount that can be invested so that might let others into the top and also given that not all the pledges will go through I guess there might be some further chances down the line.

Not gonna try and get anyone to sign up to be honest just for the sake of being able to invest, didn't eveb bother with contact invites.

Just an update that I've pretty much given up on doing this given that the contact requirements have shot up. A number of PMs have asked me to share my existing contacts.

Needless to say, I think the phone numbers exchanged are something to be respected as private and not exchanged freely so anyone wishing to to exchange numbers can maybe post here and exchange between each other via PMs.

A few developments on their facebook page today...

First someone pretended to work for them and started contacting people to try and get their details and worst still to maybe try and get them to invest! (Not clear)

Then they finally announced that they've set a cap on the investments to allow more people to be a part of it! :msntongue:
