The dollar has been increasing in value over most of the other currencies, mainly the Euro (which the CHF is somewhat liked to). I'm no economist but I think that if the FED raise interest rates in the near future, the dollar will get even more value against the other currencies.

I am under the same impression and think the current move is some anticipation that the FED might do just that.

Re: USD to CHF rate changes the last week

It looks like it might be worth to buy USD at the moment CHF1=$1.04. Good idea?

Rough guesstimate, let's say if you buy for CHF10k and sell CHF1=$1 then you made only CHF400. It's some money too, which you don't normally pick up from the street.

However, with CHF100k you can make already decent CHF4000.

Which account would be the best for such trading e.g. www.swissquote.ch?

Re: USD to CHF rate changes the last week

CHF seems more stable against the Euro than the Dollar, so it's more of a question of what EUR/USD will do.

By the way, mortgage rates seem to be going down again (close to the January 2015 lows):
https://en.comparis.ch/hypotheken/zi...twicklung.aspx
although the margin between the SNB rate (-0.75%) and the mortgage rate (1.5% for 10 year fixed) is still high, which is disappointing...

IB Forex trading is as close to spot as you're going to get with minimal fees.

Their new account in Switzerland takes 3-4 days for my funds to clear whereas before it was available next day. I wrote to them to complain. Maybe if enough people complain they'll actually do something.
