Health insurance charging co-pay 18 months after a medical procedure?

Hello,

My health insurance just sent me a bill for a service that was done over 1.5 years ago. I suppose it's the 10% co-pay for the amount above the deductible, but there is no explanation in the bill. I can't even be sure if this is a new bill, or if this is a mistake and they already charged it a long time ago. I'll talk to them about it, but in the meantime wanted to ask if there is any time limit that applies for this kind of bills? Can they just continue sending me these forever? Thanks

Hi, I am not sure what you mean with co-pay? I had a very expensive surgery a few years back and never co-paid anything. I did receive an overview of the total amount of costs, and I remember that came very late. In your case I would definitively call them.

Didn't you have to pay franchise + 10%???

The time limit is five years (to send the first bill), as I recall. ;)

And if you don't pay it, there is no time limit.
