Car in lease and Steuererklärung

Hi all,
A quick question, searching in the forum for didn't help.

I have a car in leasing: do I have to declare it in the Steuererklärung? If so how do I declare the value if I paid only a part of it?

Thanks!

Depending on the Kanton there are different ways of calculating, but yes - the value of the asset and the value of the remaining lease should both be declared on the tax return.

No - link in German to Zurich tax office

Leased cars and the lease do not appear on tax returns.

Re: Car in lease and Steuererklärung

I stand corrected for the Kanton of Zurich.

The Kanton of Zug has space to declare such vehicles (section 30.4 of the 2013 return, section 603 of 2014, I moved to Zurich after that), including noting that the car is leased.

In normal private car leasing the car does not belong to the lessee in any way, even when a down payement was made. The leaser remains the full leagl owner of the asset until the end of the lease.

In this situation the car has not be listed on the tax return. Neither can the outstanding lease be claimed in any way. In certain cantons the lease payement can be used for calculating the travel costs to your work place.

Also in Zug a leasing car as 0 value toward wealth.

If you tick the leasing box, the tax value will be set to 0.

Properly just used for showing that you have access to a car and you are allowed to claim car travel cost.
In Zug, leasing cost is not tax detucible.
