Skrill Prepaid Mastercard in EUR for shopping in EU

Hi All,

I live in Geneva and do a lot of shopping in France.

Currently I am using a credit card of a swiss bank and not happy to pay 1,75% fee for each transaction out of Switzerland. Getting card in EUR from the swiss bank will not help as I will have to pay in anycase this 1,75%. Another option is to change the card is also not good. The cheapest option is Migros card has 1,5% of comission which is also a lot. At the same time I can't open a bank account in EU as I am not EU-resident.

So I need a dedicated debit/credit card for paying in EUR outside of Switzerland with minimal comisisons.

I am thinking of getting Skrill Prepaid Mastercard for that purposes. My idea is to send to the account the amounts in EUR and use it for all payments in EUR.

If you know better ways to solve this problem, feel free to share.

Revolut's pretty good. No commissions and very good fx rates. Accounting is done in multiple currencies: EUR/GBP/USD. So if your bank offers free SEPA transfers, loading up in EURs will be also totally free. They can send you a plastic card for free if you want to use it in brick-and-mortar shops. Or you can have it as a purely online card, with the advantage that you can easily change cc number whenever you suspect it's compromised.

Take Euros in cash, no big charges when you change a large amount at the Post or CFF.

The charges are there of course, they're hidden in the ripoff rates they're using.
