Swiss bank with best online banking

I am really disappointed with my current online banking at Credit Suisse. Which bank in your opinion has the best online banking system. I am interested in opening regular payment account for me and my wife.

UBS is no better either. From experience: even worse than credit swiss.
Sorry, not much help, but at least you can do it by the process of elimination...

you should define your requirements better.
what is "the best"?
most reliable, most user friendly, best mobile app?

Re: Swiss bank with best online banking

I've used online banking with different banks in several countries (2 in Malta, 2 in UK, 2 in Switzerland, 1 in Gibraltar)

They all suck in some way. It's how the internet works.

What *are* you looking for?

And don't forget: you may not be eligible for the "best" online banking experience if you live in the wrong canton for that Kantonal bank...

You can open an account at any Kantonal Bank. The only drawback is the initial travel to a branch to open the account. But from there it is easy if you are just interested in online banking and you do not need face to face interaction.

Re: Swiss bank with best online banking

I like the post finance, even if they have sometimes outages (maybe 2-3/year) and if, like banks and the likes, they have outrageous fees for anything a bit less than normal.
Ex: you want immediate payment it's +5chf otherwise it's paid "the business day after". The finance thing is lot of fees per transactions, etc...

I know some people who for the above reasons are with Swissquote. Also, some local savings banks are worth a look depending again on your needs, the Caisse de Epargne de Nyon is popular where I live for example.

Ah did not know that.

I only saw some restrictions when comparing pillar 3a accounts

Re: Swiss bank with best online banking

I'd be really interested to hear what's exactly wrong with CS and UBS online banking. Having worked on engineering both, and having used both as an active customer, I hardly can imagine how any other bank can be better for online customers
Comparing with SwissQuite, for instance (have used it, too)

If you don't mind not having an English interface, then the new Raiffeisen interface is very nice. The photo-tan login is a piece of cake, and their mobile bills scanning app works very well.

Re: Swiss bank with best online banking

I find our UBS online banking fine, except for the older pin card machine always saying its battery is low despite having a brand new put in. Otherwise I do invoice payments, standing order changes, etc, with no problems whatsoever.

Thank you for asking!
In a few words: it feels not yet perfect for the 'intuitive' use. Let's face it, noone reads instructions or sits down with the bank account manager for a crash course on online banking...
Natwest comes to mind - somehow felt less 'busy' and clear... Or maybe it's just me and my FW problems...

Re: Swiss bank with best online banking

I use PF, UBS and Raiffeisen e-banking. PF is "prettier" and Raiffeisen is not available in English, PF and UBS use a card-reader, whereas Raiffeisen can be accessed via an SMS login code, but they're all much of a muchness really.

Postfinance doesn't necessarily need a card reader, it can also use Swisscom Secure ID https://www.postfinance.ch/en/priv/p...rtcut_mobileid

Remember the Credit Suisse Online banking from 1999?
Why the hell was that more responsive than the current implementation? (The standalone DirectNet Java Application was really good).

Things slowly fading in and out, expanding and shrinking may all look nice but are rather annoying and cumbersome to use. If I click on something then it should be there and not start an Oscar awarded animation.

Why can I not search for a payment based on the account or reference number?

Why can I not see the ESR I scanned at the branch?

Why can I not transfer funds instantaneously between my own accounts?

The UBS online banking gets more complex and slow with every release.

They need to stop bloating it and make it more responsive - for example, if I send a message to my client adviser it takes >30 seconds to respond. In the meantime I have absolutely no idea if it has worked - and this is basically submitting a form with three fields on it.

The spending tracker does not work with Internet Explorer; it never has, and they seem to have no intention of fixing it. With IE11 there's really no excuse, it's pretty much as standards compliant as any other browser.

There are some good bits - the new Access App is really nice to use, and overall the display is very clear (e.g. compared to SGKB - I think they deliberately hide things).

Re: Swiss bank with best online banking

Do any of the banks offer a scanning option for bills. Not an app where you take a picture, or a pen which is another device, but a real document feed scanner that creates pdf files?

I scan all my docments to pdf anyway and it would be nice to cut out entering all those digits.

Re: Swiss bank with best online banking

Not scanning, but UBS and I think PostFinance offer e-billing which may work for you. Companies send you their bills via the bank for you to then pay rather than in the post. Don't know if the documents can be scanned or changed to PDFs though.

Re: Swiss bank with best online banking

Does anyone else use the scan the bill function with the CS app (camera)? I use it on android and almost always the scan fails the first time, so I have to restart the app. The next time it almost always works. Just curious if anyone else sees the same behaviour?

Thanks, but I do use e-banking. You can save the companies pdf file to your hard drive, and I do this for many of these bills. However many companies big, and small, seem to like sending you paper.

It's not the biggest problem and I can live with it, but if wishes were horses ....

I do agree with above comment that UBS has become bloatware.
