Switzerland Employee, will be working in UK, Do I need to pay Social Security in CH
Hello All, I am an Indian national working for multinational Swiss company. I lived in Switzerland from 2009-2013 and was contributing to pension, Social Security and other Insurances. In 2013, the company asked me to relocate to Dubai as expatriate. While I am here for almost 4 years, I did not pay any Social Security back in CH. I was told that I do not qualify for Social security (because I have not lived there long enough >5 years).
Similarly the pension contribution for employee and employer was contributed both by company and Health insurance was also provided to us here in Dubai via international health insurance.
Now the company is asking me to relocate to UK still as an expatriate. In the draft offer I have seen deductions as 10% Social Security, 10% Pension and 18% Supplemental Health insurance, which I have been told that I need to pay all these from my gross salary to Switzerland.
To me it just does not make any sense. Why do I need to pay health insurance and Social security in Switzerland. I am not getting paid in CH. I will be paid locally in UK and will be paying income taxes in UK. So I have asked HR to clarify and will have follow up meeting next week.
Will appreciate if people can share their experiences or know similar scenarios and what would be the outcome. Thanks in advance for your support.
