Re: Wealth tax declaration - Permit B -> Full Declaration

Old thread again .. But becoming interesting for me..

Since 5 years I've done nothing tax wise except pay tax at source.. GE and VD tax offices both told me 5 years ago that I didn't need to do anything.

I just changed to C permit and decided to hire a tax person to take me through the first steps and initial forms. He just about crapped his pants when i said I'd never declared anything. I must immediately self declare or I'll be fined. Because I'm over 120k, because I have property abroad etc etc.

Slightly concerned what's next.

One is allowed once in a lifetime to do a self declaration without penalty. In the end you will only pay the tax owed plus interest. If you have foreign investments and have to do a DA1 you can only claim for the last 3 years.

I did my tax return earlier this month, after they sent me the necessary documentation. I have been on permit B, taxed at source, since 2014, and am still on permit B taxed at source....but I requested to do the declaration due to salary increase.
I got tax help with a company and the guy didn't think there would be any problem with declaring now and that I shouldn't expect any issue for not declaring wealth / interest / dividends earlier. Will see how it goes when the tax office gets back to me.

DA1 - is this for reclaiming withheld dividends?

Re: Wealth tax declaration - Permit B -> Full Declaration

Hello Enohzee and everyone,

Im exactly in the same situation as you are, never filled a tax declaration (my salary is below 120k). I have wealth > 300k , and never declare wealth tax. How it went for you after filling the tax declaration ? any problems?

I will pay in the 3rd pillar for the first time , and according to the document here is SG, I need to fill a complete tax declaration, I wonder if it would be possible that I end up paying more tax than the one already payed at source.

Thank you for any comment

Thanks for the link.

I tried entering 0 income and tried lots of values for 'wealth'. It appears that the wealth tax kicks in at 51,000 CHF for Neuchatel, which seems quite low.

I'm happy to declare everything this year, just concerned that I haven't declared before and if that will cause some trouble.
They will not care or notice, if they do they will ask for a few francs of tax. It's not a criminal offence, like parking in the wrong spot or for too long.

Everything was fine for me.

In previous years I did the "mini declaration" and did not declare full accounts, etc. but could declare the 2nd/3rd pillar payments.

I then requested to file a full declaration (while still on B permit, tax at source). That meant I declared all accounts, dividends, etc. (for tax payment), and also commute to work, lunches, etc. (for tax deduction).

Everything was fine. I filed, they calculated final tax, no issues for the previous years. Now I'm on C permit so file everything in the same way.
