Income tax deductions steuererklarung

When filling out the steuererklarung for 2007 what deductions can you put in apart from the ones already menetioned in the form? Can you put any other deductions (under further deductions)? Do these have to be work related?

For example, I've read through the threads and found the following deductions could be possible:

(1) travel to work
(2) lunches at work
(3) the general 3% of your net salary (is this the Nettolohn I or II?)
(4) health insurance
(5) interest on any debts
(6) clothes for work maybe? (suits?)
(7) Bank fees?
(8) the CHF 400 which is enterd automatically in Private Tax software? Why is this entered automatically? Isn't this for training and retraining payments actually made?
(9) money to dependants? Do you have to prove this?
(10) Are fines deductible?
(11) Gym membership maybe?
(12) part of your appartment rent if used for business? Does checking e-mails from laptop at home on a regular basis at night count? Are the appartment charges (rates) alone deductible since these could be construed as maintenance?

Any other deductions anybody can think of?

TBH : your best bet is to go & see a Treuhand /Accountant who will happily round all this off for you for around 150chf.
I take it you are looking to extract urine for more than that amount ?

Re: Income tax deductions steuererklarung

I just went to an accountant in the town I live in (neuchatel).
They told me that I could not deduct anything because I pay quellensteuer.

I still think its possible to deduct!

Ask the City of Neuchâtel. Maybe they permit you deductions!

Re: Income tax deductions steuererklarung

Can anyone tell me if 6,500CHF is good for a net monthly salary? In England that would be £3,200 but I am warned cost of living is a lot here. Not moved in yet so please.. prepare me..!

Excelent salary for a checkout girl working 3 afternoons a week

Appalling salary for a top executive manager of a multinational corporation with head office in Zug.

Get my drift...?

Right and wrong.

Quellensteuer already includes these deductions ("average" or "typical" amounts).

If you earn more then CHF 120k per year, then you fill in a tax return and you
can then claim all deductions specifically.
Your paid Quellensteuer is then offset against your final tax bill for a refund or another bill.

If you earn less than 120k, then you can fill in a "source tax refund" (can't be bothered to find out German name) to claim optional deductions like pillar 3a (don't ask: search) and have your source tax for that year adjusted.

I'd also suggest getting a new Treuhand...
