Swiss Life financial planning service ?

Hi,

While reviewing my pension/2nd pillar options at age 43 with help from a Swiss life advisor he suggested I should consider using swisslife financial planning service.

As I understand it the service is a deep dive into your financial situation, made by multiple swisslife Advisors considering all aspects for then to make a “life plan” well into retirement.

This service would propose what to do; there would be no requirement to buy swisslife products, a plan would made and I would receive calls to remind and follow up through the years. the full price for this service would be 2300 chf.

It’s a hefty price tag but if the service does what they are saying it would be worth it as alternatively I wouldn’t end up doing much of what could be done

Anyone know about this service ? Any good/bad experiences?
Anyone know of similar indecent services ?

Note: I’m in Neuchatel canto. If that matters.

Im always a bit sceptical about these things! To me it sounds like you are providing them with all the information they need to sell you other financial products and on top of that, you will pay them for the pleasure.

Im sure your bank can do this for free?

Well, both times I tried talking to banks (credit suisse and post finance) they haven’t been very helpful beyond “pay some more to 2nd pillar”.

Re: Swiss Life financial planning service ?

I would rather do my own homework instead of paying someone to make important life decisions for me unless I was a multimillionaire with very complex estate and tax situation.

Re: Swiss Life financial planning service ?

While Swiss Life is a solid and reputable life insurance company (whose shares has done very well over the last couple of years) and the largest landlord in Switzerland, the usual rules apply:

Financial advice, given professionally, benefits the advisor first and the customer second...

Re: Swiss Life financial planning service ?

I would actually rather pay a financial adviser a flat fee for their help rather than all these virtual consultants who keep cold calling and telling me everything they do is free. They obviously get paid by the companies that sell products, which makes me completely cynical and questioning of everything they say.

If this is not Swiss Life, does anyone know of an alternative that can give unbiased advice?

Re: Swiss Life financial planning service ?

I'm an accountant, I'll do it for CHF 2000.

Seriously though. The resources are all out there to make informed decisions all on your own. The hard part is knowing what you want in life and what you're willing to do and/or sacrifice to achieve what you want.

I wanted this, too, with properties abroad, property investments here, plus all the money we have here, plus a crosscheck every year on where we stand. Somehow they all end up just wanting to sell me a product and not doing the analysis I wanted to have.
