b) See https://www.svazurich.ch/hausangestellte and if you employ foreign friends also https://awa.zh.ch/internet/volkswirt...verfahren.html

c) As it was holiday there was no need for day care. It was your free time and not related to employment or education (for ex. language course). Hence it is not tax deductible. See Wegleitung 2017 for Canton Zurich tax. Page 22, explanation to Item 16.6 https://www.steueramt.zh.ch/internet...017_HA+DEF.pdf
Very clear, many many thanks!

In my case (poor German, little knowledge of the pension/insurance/social security systems) I used the service provided by quitt.ch.
It's an added cost, but they take care of absolutely everything, and they have good deals with accident/home insurance companies, so at the end of the day it's probably a bit cheaper than what it seems.
I didn't know of quitt.ch and it seems exactly what I need (and in English too). I'll certainly use it for the future. Thanks again!

Re: Nanny money for tax return?

it won't be of any use if you 'employ' people who are not allowed to work here illegally for short periods of time. Not sure about Zurich, but many C/Kantons do not allow people to employ Au Pairs directly (anyone paid pocket money and given board and lodging in payment with some pocket money- not at all the same as a nanny)- but have to do so via an agency.

In your case, I'd keep quiet- trying to get a few chuffs reduction in taxes could land you in all sorts of other troubles.

Re: Nanny money for tax return?

You've also been asking about how to qualify for a childcare subsidy. Note that this is not so you can pay your relatives and friends to care for the children when they come to visit. It's usually a subsidy for a kita or hort.

Also FYI- in some cantons, childcare subsidy is considered a form of social help. If your long-term goals are C-permit and then citizenship, you may need to pay back any subsidy before you qualify.

Re: Nanny money for tax return?

Sure 3wishes, the subsidy is for kita or hort

Do you need to payback childcare subsidy or income from unemployment benefits (RAV) to get permit C? Thanks for this info

RAV is an insurance, not a subsidy. You pay into it when you are working and then when you lose your job the insurance kicks in. Think of it as a pre-payment as opposed to something you have to pay back.

unemployment benefits (RAV)
RAV is not unemployment benefits, it is the cantonal employment office.

Unemployment benefits are paid by the ALK.

Re: Nanny money for tax return?

We hired a full-time nanny and we used Fairboss to manage her contract, AHV registration, insurances and monthly payslips...and it's free.
Here's the link https://www.fairboss.ch/ in case you want to check it out
